thank you all so much , you are quite right , my grandmother louisa smith,born march 10 1900 died 0ct 1989 , married thomas samuel reed 1918, how do i prove that sarah perry was her mother, ive spoken to surviving children and only remember frederick smith father as a docker/lighterman! spoke to tower hamlets library , no smiths resident at 57 bancroft road in 1918, my gran married twice ,on both certificates frederick named as docker / lighterman/ albert smith was witness on 1918 wedding to thomas, if i could prove sarah perry was louisa mother then all the siblings including emma and james smith would tie up, this sticking point with her mother , been trying to resolve this for months, once again thank you all so much for all the time and effort youve been great x maybe lighterman records would help, as two other family members noted as lighterman, ie richard reed and his father james reed, thomas,s father and grandfather |

I've been trying to find Frederick in 1881 to see if he may have been a lighterman's apprentice but not completed apprenticeship..but not having much luck! |

I think the immediate tree is a match but they have not necesarily attached the right census records. |

Wish they would keep to the same spelling One minute it's Read then the marriage is Reed so is it the same people?? |

same tree LadyK if you click onto Fredericks name down on the right there is a link to 1901 it says " 2 citations provide evidence for Name, Birth" |
