Hi, I have William Bevan born Birmingham 1880, his wife Jessie nee Bloomer in 1911 census, his mother Mary who was a widow was also living with them, she was said to be born Ashby de la Zouch Liecestershire. In 1901 William was living with his mother, she stated she was born in the same place, she was also a widow. I don’t have 1891 but in 1881 she was living with Henry her hubby and her son William, she still gave her birthplace as Ashby de Zouch Liecestershire. So I don’t think that the 1881 census you found was for the family. However I have found this birth that seems to fit- Henry Bevan 1838 Marstow Hereford Father Christopher Bevan, Mother Amelia Jenkins

I cant thank you enough for all your help, I an sure we will get there in the end

But the Henry born in Marstow is in the last 1881 census posted. here fore he is unlikely to be your Henry.

UPDATE
Hi I have the certs that I sent for and I am a bit confused now.

The line goes like this.

Aurther James Bevan b NOV 1915, father William Henry, mother Jessie Bloomer Both born Birmingham county Warwick. So far we had it right.

The birth cert for his father William Henry Bevan b march 1881, states his father was William Bevan mother Sarah Ann Turnpenny.

I have found the marriage for them.

Marriages Mar 1875
Bevan William Birmingham 6d 5
Turnpenny Sarah Ann Birmingham 6d 5

Also the 1881 census

William BEVAN Head M Male 21 Birmg, Warwick, England Bricklayers Laborer
Sarah A. BEVAN Wife M Female 20 Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England
William H. BEVAN Son Male 2 w Birmg, Warwick, England

If you look at the ages it would mean that when they married they would have been 15 and 14? The fact they have a son William Henry age 2 weeks would fit. Also the address on the birth cert for the son has the same address as the 1881 census? Its all a bit odd.

Anyway, if anyone can find them in any other census i might be able to piece it together.

Any input would be welcome. On a sorrier subject my little dog died in my arms on monday she was only 8 but had a bad heart, i am heartbroken I am trying to keep busy and keep my mind occupied, so if I seem a bit confused please bare with me

Many thanks
Kathy

Kathleen

So sorry to hear about your dog.

There is also this marriage in 1880, which seems much more likely!

Marriages Mar 1880 (>99%)

Bevan William Birmingham 6d 100
CLARK Charlotte Birmingham 6d 100
Hiatt Charles Coustrat Birmingham 6d 100
Hiatt Charles Gonstrat Birmingham 6d 100
Turnpenny Sarah Ann Birmingham 6d 100

unless they got married earlier, then repeated the marriage!

NO

There are TWO Sarah Ann Turnpenny's

Births Jun 1849 (>99%)

TURNPENNY Sarah Ann Birmingham 16 258

Births Dec 1860 (>99%)

TURNPENNY Sarah Ann Shrewsbury 6a 576

and it looks like they BOTH married a William Bevan!

I shall see if I can do more digging!
