I have found a marriage of James Meldrum (possible William's son) & Catherine Donaldson 1869, on the 1881 Census they have children named James D and Helen plus other children, I am wondering if this is a grandson of James Meldrum & Helen Watson. |

It's unlikely - What you normally get priot to 1855 is the name of the bride and groom only. Occasionally the father's name is given. What would show the parents name in Scotland is the death cert - if after 1855. |

Yes thanks. Further to the 1841 Census are the McFeggins related to the Meldrums? |

Thanks for the info. I will now have to try & find information on William & James junior, I presume there might have been other children, as there is a 7 year break between William & James. |

All James Meldrum's deaths between 1841 and 1851in Fife. Even if you open these they provide very little information. I know from previously opening a couple in my own searches. Indeed the death may not be registered as was not required until 1855. |

Mel, Further to your request on the help centre, there is an Alexander Meldrum in the Dunfermline poor house in 1871. |
