I wonder if Arthur had a brother called Harry? If he did then the Martha who married a Harry Johnson in 1923 could possibly have been a sister-in-law to Arthur. He could still have called her "our Marth".

the name martha has come from my father he said arther always referd to " our Marth" he always thought it was is sister in fact he 100pcent so i thought id try find out .. ah god wish not borherd now i have confused everyone Would still like help though tracking down his first marrage

I thought the marriage to Nellie seemed right. She died June qtr, of 1943 and the second marriage was the Sept. qtr. of 1943. A bit soon but perfectly possible.

There is this marriage in Bramley (might be worth getting the certificate to see who her father is). She marries another Johnson!!!:-

it says on marrage certif to second wife Ethel Kay , he was a widower age 43 in 1943 his father Henry Johnson dec eased at time of marrage he living at 106 fairfield crescent bramly at the time

There was a Nellie Johnson died Leeds 1943 age 42 so that fits.

Nellie Northgreave born J/F/M 1901 in Holbeck Leeds.

How can i order birth certif not sure his date of birth the R stands for reginald.

The Arthur Rowland birth I found seems to be the only likely birth and in both marriages Arthur gives this middle initial.

I really think the only way forward is to buy this birth certificate so that you can be sure of the parent's names.
