That Patricia Seymour was my favourite until I got her marriage cert which stated her fathers name as Albert David Seymour. I had thought she might have rearranged or invented her names too but can't find any other likely female seymours born 10 years either side of 1938 (she was 21 in 1959 according to her marriage cert). Thank you for trying though :-) |

Thank you everyone for the lovely replies - they are appreciated EVEN more than the information. I will persevere and won't now be put off. |

Hi Karen, this thread pops up in My Threads because I posted on it at the beginning. I have to second what Fan has said (she's not a bad old stick really and she's quite good at what she does!) I do wish people would remember that we are not all born with an inbuilt knowledge of how to go about researching our family history. |

I for one have not found your replies to be rude and ungrateful Karen and would have helped had I felt able to. |

Thank you for all your help everyone. I'm sorry if you think my replies were rude and ungrateful and so warrant the message i received: I was treating this as a sort of ongoing conversation. I have never been on anything like this and don't know either the protocol or how much information I should have provided. I am sorry to have wasted your time but please believe I am grateful |

It depends whether or not it was a registered adoption. I think if it was her birth would have been registered again under her new name. There is no evidence of that but there are people on here who are far more knowledgeable about the adoption system than I am. |

Well I have no proof who her mother was but I can't find birth records for her name with or without mothers maiden name and her 2 middle names tie in with Jessie Holden and her sister. Also I couldn't find another birth record for an Albert David Seymour. Finding a living relative of David Keith Seymour would be a big help! |

Only the adoptee can access their adoption records,no one else. |

Are you guessing about who Patricia's mother was...........purely on the fact that she named her father as Albert David, and a man of that name married a woman whose names you give..............or do you have some other back-up info? |

That had crossed my mind too - any clues how to start researching adoptions? |

I am wondering if she was adopted. If Albert and Jessie only had one child David, and for some reason Jessie couldn't have any more and they decided to adopt a daughter. Might be another road to research. |

I'll have to check her father's occupation when I get home as I'm at work right now. I wondered about her being born abroad too (as I was even though my parents are English and I was brought up here). The male you found born in 1925 was born in Hendon and died in Southampton - his name was David Keith Seymour. One of jessie's brother's daughters knew him (I'm not sure when) but I'm waiting to hear back. |
