Member Since: January 2007 Posts: 27 Send Message	another bit of info that i havent been able to trace more of..my father in law had a brother george quoyle or quayle gill. who died in WW11. service no.4127275, cheshire regiment. also born birkenhead. in north africa on 6.4.1943. my father in laws army number was 4127012. but I dont know if I can get any more details from army records either. am stuck, and have spent more than I should this month!..many thanks for your interest!..doreen

On marriage certificate he was evan john, as I said, but I cant find John.. John Evan, or evan john. he didnt have other names. thanks

That is why we are confused! we are trying combinations of..plain john, john evan and evan john. his brothers and sisters always called him " our evan".. but his wife, family and friends, knew him as john (to make it more confusing, also nicknamed Jack, as lots of johns were in the old days!) thanks for your time and trouble...doreen

	Found it ! Births Mar 1918 Gell John E Hunter Birkenhead 8a 663 Short pregnancy! At last! so he was registered as JOHN, and his parents were Hannah Mayers ( her second name) Hunter ( surname pre marriage) and Robert Gill

	Doreen you'll find that our ancestors switch their names around , or even drop or add names, on a whim I'm convinced that they knew subconsciously that we would be looking for them a hundred years in the future, and determined to make life as difficult as possible :))) sylvia
