Hi Lorraine,

Thank you so much for your kind offer, I hope you dont mind, it may just be a long shot.

James William Neve b. 1881 Loddon in Norfolk.

On the 10 November 1892 Ester aged 31 years and her sons James 11 years and infant departed from London bound for Wellington in New Zealand aboard the ship Tongariro owned by the New Zealand Shipping company.

I have since found out that he sailed from New Zealand to America and possibly perished in the 1906 earthquake disaster of San Francisco. So far I have not come across his name on the lists of deceased.

Could you please see if you can find any information as regards to his arrival in America or his settling should he hav survived.

Thank you so much
Jinet

Hi Lorraine,

No sorry, just when he arrived in New Zealand.
he family had received confirmation that he reached America, as word had reached his family that because of the terrible journey he would never sail again.
They believed he was killed in 1906 disaster due to the fact he was never heard of again.

regards
Jinet

I know quite unusual I thought to add that to his passenger list, not sure if its 54years ago or aged 54.

maybe you search online for newspapers articles where he was living to see if there are any references to an accident

Hi Lorraine

I am looking for some help in finding info on one of my family members who moved to the USA, this is what I know:

George William Milnes born 1871 ASHTON-UNDER-LYNE Lancashire England

Died age 40 (08/03/1911) in New Bedford, USA.

The death info is on a grave in our family plot, so I would like to know if this can be confirmed?

Any other info that is available would be great.

Many Thanks in advance

Jane

Dear Lorraine
I wonder if you would kindly look for Emile Gaston Burridge CHINAL
arriving in Canada some time after 1920.
He was born in India in 1879, son of Eugene Adolph Chinal (of French origin) and Catherine Burridge. I know he was in Agra in 1920 because he married my great grandmother then. After that he totally disappeared. My g-grandma returned to England some time around 1930 and never mentioned him! Presumably the marriage was a disaster.
I've heard that one of his brothers emigrated to the US or Canada, I think given their French origin, Canada is more likely, and possibly he went with him.
Unfortunately his surname can be found spelt in several different ways including Chanel, Chinell and Chanell.
I have no idea if he would have sailed to England and then on to Canada or gone via a different route.
It's a difficult one but your help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Beverley

Hello Lorraine,
I am hoping to find some information about the arrival and whereabouts of my uncle who emigrated to Canada. His name was Frank (Francis) Heselton (many variations of spelling the surname). Uncle Frank was known for his lack of interest in writing and spelling.
He was born in 1886 at Ingleton, Yorkshire, U.K. I do not know when he emigrated to Canada, except that it was in the early nineteen hundreds. I do know that he eventually became a share-farmer at Medicine Hat, Alberta and that his share partner wrote to the family in U.K. in 1950 to tell them that he had died. I will be very grateful for any information you may be able to find for me. Thank you.
Kathleen
