I'm afraid I don't know what happened to Dorothy Bower after her marriage to Herbert, except they had two children - Dennis Herbert Halsey (1927 - not on freebmd) and Doreen Halsey in 1933.
After that I don't know what happened to her.

Yes that does look interesting! I can't see a birth for a Dorothy E Hulsey between 1890 and 1923. So it does look like a re-marriage?

Might be back to the drawing board again, as Dorothy Guy also married a Clarke.

I am interested in that Hulsey marriage in Willesden though.

Hope this doesn't confuse the issue further!
The date of birth given for Dorothy Clarke does tie in with the birth of Dorothy Eleanor V Guy OND 1899, but might just be a co-incidence. The name Hulsey on the marriage could be a mistranscription of Halsey? I did note it was in the Willesden district, but can't find a corresponding death for Herbert Halsey.

Daughter Ann was aged 5 in census 1861, so would be about right for that, and his father is a John Halsey.

Thanks everyone. Seems I've truly reached a dead end where Dorothy Bower is concerned. Perhaps she was even born overseas, which would make things really difficult I suppose!

Re mgnv's 1911 entries

Victoria Dorthay 1901 has father Thomas Bowen 1849 Coal miner.

Dorothy Ellen Bowen 1900 had father Edwin Bowen 1867 carriage painter.

Dorothy E Bowen 1899 had father James Evans Bowen 1869 Guard.

I had wondered myself if Bower was mistranscribed, and had tried looking for Dorothy in 1901 & 1911 as Bowes as well as Bower, but to no avail.

Might the name on the m.cert be Bowen?

Anyway, I found these in 1911 (searched for Do* Bowe?):

If that is the correct death that Mary posted earlier, I think we should be trying to work back from that. Dorthy seems to have dropped the "Eleanor" in later life if that is correct. So she could have just as easily "adopted" it prior to her marriage.

I agree Dorothy isn't the girl we're looking for, though neirther is she the Dorothy Eleanor V Guy I found in 1899, if born in 1902 or 1903. Anyway, a red herring.

1841 census records were supposed to be rounded DOWN to multiples of 5 for adults. In some areas the actual age is listed.

That's interesting. So how did she get baptised in 1902, if she was born in 1903?

Her birthdate was given as April 4th on the register for 1902, and her baptism date for May 4th.

The Dorothy born to Edith frances Guy nee Weeks and Frank Edward Guy was down as Doris Guy born 1903 hornsea London.
