i am trying to trace details of my father william Duttons family. My father is 80 next month. I know his mother was helen walkingshaw and his father thomas dutton. His family of uncles and cousins played in flute bands in broxburn. I am told that a branch of the family owned the shale mines int he area but they mved to usa turn of the last century |

You'll need to buy some credits at ScotlandsPeople. 6GBP will buy enough credits for 5 certs or census images if you're careful. |

Hi Lorraine, you don't say when Helen was born, but have you checked in the search tree box above? There are several trees with this name in them and you may well find a connection. Good luck. Cx. |

i managed it your great for simple to follow instructions. I found the photo and have now mailed the priest to see of they have further records. its funny how each new lead throws up questions, my fathers family were staunch old school church of scotland but the band was linked to a catholic church. as for my grandmother being head of household with wee ones at just 39, makes me really keen to see if i can find out my grandfathers name and what happened to him. I should have known i wuld be hooked before i got the skills but am learning fast thanks to you all |

You're very welcome -- and remember, SP isn't subscription, it's just credits, and you can buy as little as 5 pounds' worth. |
