George is the grandson of Francis Garrett

I think on that 1899 passenger list they're going to join daughter Mrs. Buckley, 6682 B?? Ave., Roxburgh. The other column says they're going to Roxburgh, Phila. I think you're right Roxburgh must be a suburb of Philadelphia.
Mary Ellen & Lillie list Mrs. Buckley as sister so presumably she was a Farr? Although Thomas Priest lists her as daughter. I don't know!!!

I thought this might be the daughter Mrs. Buckley, nee Farr, but no it's the mother's marriage to Thomas Priest!

Sorry its taken so long to get back on - my husband hijacked the laptop !
I will tell you what I know for sure then perhaps we can fill in the gaps...here goes

My grandmother was Lillie Sheldon. Her mother was Lillie Farr who married William Ernest Sheldon in 1912.

Lillie Farr was born in 1881 to George Farr b 1848 and Elizabeth Farr 1849.

They had 4 children ..Lillie, Mary E Farr b 1877 Joseph Farr b 1871 and Margaret b 1869.

At some point George died and Elizabeth married a Thomas Priest . In 1911 census Lillie Farr is lstill iving with them in Delph but also living with them is a ten year old Lillie Lockwood - named as grandaughter. It states on census she was born in USA. My mum says that Lillie Lockwood was always referred to as Cousin Lillie by my grandma.
I wondered if Lillie Lockwood was Lillie Farrs daughter or daughter of one of her sisters ? and was puzzled by USA birth . Thanks everyone for your help. My mum is terminally ill and I would love to clear some of the puzzles in our family tree whilst she is still here to discuss it with .

Wow - you are all amzing- this is like the best book Ive ever read !! The pennsylvania connection is bizarre as my mums paternal grandmothe went to Rhode Island at the same time..but thats another mystery for another day ha ha .

So cousin Lillie really was Cousin Lillie afterall.

What is really coincidental is that Lillie Farr lived next door to Florence (Florrie/Florry) Buckley b 1881 in 1901 census in Delph Saddleworth.
Florry Buckley also travelled to USA around similar time and became Florence Tordoff. She had a son in USA name of Tordoff in 1903 but then we know she left him in USA and travelled back to England in 1912 and married my great grandfather Fred Allsopp.
Any idea who the child was or why she came back when she did ? I know for a fact that she went to Rhode Island Penns. How bizarre that both sets of my maternal great grandmother travelled to Pennsylvania ?? Coincidental ? I was never aware of any connections between the two families nor was my mum .

..and how did they afford it ?? They worked in woollen mills in the vvillages ?

Any idea when Florry went to USA and whether she married Tordoff in England first ? I keep hitting a brick wall with her between 1901 and when she returns in 1912.
