Hello John,I hope you dont mind me asking I ahve just seen your request and i am researching my tree regarding an Eva Maud Speake who married a Cole. She was born in Marylebone area 1917 and died 2008.Her parents were Emily Williams and Walter Speake. I wonder could a Mr Cole have come from Marylebone area as well |

Thank you to everyone for your help with this. I have now requested copies of Arthurs marriage cert and Edward Williams birth cert and I think I will also send for a copy of Arthurs death cert to see why he died so young. My father never mentioned any of this so it is a fascinating discovery. Best wishes, John |

Yes John but if you look above you will see that our theory is that Arthur died in March 1876, after his marriage to Eliza Elizabeth and she then married Thomas McConnell in 1877. So Arthur would be Edwards father and deceased when he married. |

I have not found Edward with his parents on any census. The only recoed I have for him is the 1891 census when he is with his sister Eliza but I dont know about the Eliza McConnell being their mother. On Edward Williams marriage cert in 1891 the father is Arthur Cole deceased ( sculptor ) so I am confident I have the right Arthur. |

It does sound likely to be true rootgatherer as Arthurs father was a stone mason. |

This looks like the most likely birth for Edward? Might be worth getting the birth cert to check father. If it's the right one it would give you the mother. |

Have you found Edward with his parents on the 1881 census please? I just can't see him with a sister Eliza (assuming that 1891 census is your Edward). |
