HI i have just recived the marriage cert for my grandparents Olive Miller and John Mathew Metcalfe born 1907. John and Olive were married on the 3rd of March 1934 at Chester-le- street vol 10a page 911. Olive has no name or surname of father do i take it that my grandmother did not know who her father was. HI Olive Miller was Olive Rawe who was illegitamate. Olive Millers mother was Edith Rawe who married William Rawe He was a manger at Betty Pitt coal mine

Olive Miller had 4 sister Nellie, Edna , Ella and Edie.

I have not been able to find a marriage for Edith and William Rawe.

Not sure what name to look under for my grandmother on her marriage cert it is Miller.

I only have the above information about Olive family because i was send it by e-mail but was not send any dates

The 1911 census that MC posted has head as W. William , so William may not have been his first name.

Looking at the original of the 1911 I'm thinking he may have been writing "Mr" in front of his name which has been transcribed as "W"

I wonder if this William's surname could'nt be read properly????


It is the right year by the 1911 census as that says they have been married 2 years.
