No, I can't find any possible marriage for either of them, but nor can I find a death of an Annie Hanwell, or an Annie Pickett. But the online records only go up to 2006, she could have died age 104. |

So where did you get this tree from Alexandra? I only ask cos I was presented with one recently from a member of my own family, typed on a typewriter, so it sort of dates it as old. Is yours typed on a typewriter? |

Who compiled the 'tree' to which you refer? |

OK, the tree was typed on a normal computer and printed via a printer i was sent it from a relative about 4 years ago and its her research.... i dont know how the information was gathered i mean everything on there is correct to what i have searched except this part about the James (snr) pickett marrying Grace williams and then Annie Hanwell..... this thred has already helped me discover that James (snr) did marry Grace but i have searched and cannot find a marriage between James and Annie.... ive even searched under Ann. Other members on this thred found the death info for both the boys i have on this information and they match they even found the birth info for William Hanwell but shows mother was annie cunningham i have also searched for a marriage between James (snr) pickett and annie cunningham to no avail. I dont believe i have seen the birth info of James or Jack pickett yet.... the reason i stated James (jack) pickett was because thats how its written or typed i should say on this tree 'James (jack) pickett'.... My Nans mother was James (snrs) sister.... So my nan and the boys the confussions over would of been cousins... |

also to add my nans birth year 1925 but again thats only est as we dont actually know.... i have another member on my contacts whom is a pickett by maiden name she has james whom died 1954 on her tree she has the annie hanwell marriage on there including offspring but theres no further info like marriage year or ref so i have emailed her to ensure she is correct on this because all that ive found to be true is that he married grace williams and they had a child... maiden name williams. but the other gr member believes annie hanwell was james b1928 d.2001 mother .... but according to the info available online mothers maiden name was williams and ties in with the williams marriage..... i just cant work this out x |

Flick, you are technically correct in saying Jack was a diminutive for John, but maybe William James was known as James, so they just used an alternative. Or have you found something we haven't? |

What are you confused with Alexandra? |

|
G83 | Report | 24 Jul 2010 21:36 |
ok i wasnt aware that was the same place.... so out of interest why are they registered in both names? .... what im confussed about is James married Grace Williams in 1920.... then he has a child with Annie Hanwell nee Cunningham but when grace dies she dies in the name pickett.... is this usual if perhaps they were divorced? So do you think my James Pickett and William James Hanwell are one and the same people? |

Alexandra, there is no need to repeat the previous information, we can all read everything that has been said on the post. |

I am not 100% certain of HOW he was registered in both names, but I know there were circumstances in which this happened. I think that both father and mother had to agree to their names appearing on the certificate, so if they weren't married, he appears twice on the records. |

ok madmeg i understand its easier to understand now you have stated it like this.... yes the un-named birth does seem right as its in the area to which i have noted here. So on both of these births it shows MMN cunningham... which does tie in with annie. Just trying to work out how he came to have 2 children with annie yet he was married to grace williams and annie was married to ernest hanwell... ernest didnt pass away till 1932 which is after both children would of been born. and grace 1968 still named as pickett... |
