Not sure,Rose,but in 1881 census it says Henry is 2. So wouldn't this be his birth? |

Thank you Jax, woodford is spot on! So obviously henry and his mother were split up. Thats a good point I could check the birth for elizabeths brother. Do you think that if elizabeth was born after James Brewer died that maybe her mother gave her the same surname or had to? x |

what you could try is getting the birth cert for Elizabeth's older brother Henry? |

Thank you Rose. Based on the books that I am reading it could be anyone perhaps? They were not good times for women. The trilogy by Jennifer worth in the 1950's is so good x |

Well that all makes sense then :) very sad that they were in the workhouse... so I'm afraid you won't know Elizabeth's father, but at least you have her mum's side of the family :) |

Henry Samuel is my grandads dad! All in workhouses :((( |

Oh poor things, I am reading a book about the workhouses and they were awful. I have a feeling elizabeth's dad was not james as in 1881 fanny was already widowed x |

Don't know if you think this likely but it does seem a coincidence? |

the 1891 shows this, I think this is Fanny's son, and I would guess that the 'Emily' below is actually Elizabeth... Fanny's two youngest still in the workhouse |

Oh dear thats a shame. As Fanny was widowed to you think maybe she met someone in the workhouse? |
|||
|
Rambling | Report | 12 Jul 2010 14:03 |
This looks like Fanny's death the year or so after Elizabeth was born |

I don't think Elizabeth had the same father as Fanny's other children, as in 1881 she is shown as widowed and Elizabeth was born in 1885 x |

Samantha, it isn't a spelling mistake as such it is Brewer on the image it's just that the transcriber read it as an 'o'... |

Maybe the brower was a spelling mistake? She met him and must have married him young. |
