Thank you soo much for the extra info.
On Susannahs sons (George 1905) b/c they are living at 27 Moorsom/n St - so they clearly didnt move far!
I think they must have worked in the Jewellery Quarter - well known to us Brummies! They were involved in Pearl Button making for several generations it seems - wonder if they used to supply the Pearly King & Queen LOL!
Thanks again!
I hope to be able to use all the info in my 'book' I'm really quite excited by it all!

Choccy & K,
Thanks so much for your contributions overnight (my time). I dont know how you find all these people with such glaring mis-transcriptions, but rest assured people like me are sooo appreciative of your tenacity!
K, I am researching the Ensor family as 65th birthday/retirement gift for my stepfather (Aug 11), as my mom has 3 published books on her side so thought it would be nice for him to have some history too. As I have limited time, I dont know how far I will get with the branches, but as Susannah Durose (Du Rose) is his grandmother, I may well pursue the line a little later on - and I will come a callin', thank you for that.
Well I will now print off what you have given me and start plotting a tree to work from.
Again, my sincere thanks Vanesa x

Whilst I appreciate this is someone else's research, to help understand the probable connection between the families. there are a number of trees on Ancestry that give details of the family of the two George's. These trees list the two has having common great grandparents of Jesse Ensor b 1781 Birmingham and his wife Sarah Colney. Based on the 1841 census the family appear to been in the button trade for many years
The George b 1872 was descended from this couple via father Silas b 1843 and wife Ann and grandfather Silas Ensor b 1807 Warwickshire and wife Elizabeth Copson
The George b 1869 (husband of Susannah) is listed as son of Charles Ensor b 1841 in Birmingham and Mary Ann Eagles and George's grandfather is listed as William Ensor b 1805 with wife Matha
If you want to reseach your Durose side at some point from Susannah we have Durose ancesters via my mother in law and most lines are descended from families in the Bramshall area of Staffordshire. The Durose family research group meets there regularly and the name appears to have originated in Brittany
Good Luck Kayx

Thanks so much to everyone for the time given to help me with this query, it really is appreciated!
Not far off bedtime for me so I wont be able to respond to any other contributions that may occur, until tomorrow. If anyone can find George & Susannah in 1901, that would be the icing on the cake!
Nite, nite & thanks heaps. Vanessa x

........looking at the 1851 census you kindly posted yesterday, I think we could be on the right track with Silas jr & Charles being brothers! Might well explain the 2 Georges, and hopefully nothing more sinister than families just not getting on :o)

Saw that too, thanks! I find it strange that they didnt get married til they would have been in their late 50's, early 60's!
Family in the UK are going to get the marriage cert details of George & Susannah. Might be we have to get George & Kates too, if only to clarify. The elder members of the family have always been a little reluctant to talk about family, as if they are ashamed of something, so want to get this sorted before I go any further back - would hate to upset anyone, with what is meant to be a well intentioned gesture!
If only, I could find George & Susannah on the remaining census!
Thanks so much for your ongoing efforts to help xx

This also looks like the death of Susannah Ensor so Kate and George could have married earlier if she was the reason they did not earlier

Thanks K - any lead would be great to help me try and unravel! I know for certain that George Ensor b 1905 (marr Annie Ward) has parents George Ensor & Susannah Du Rose (marr 1891). What I find strange - as earlier - is that there are 2 George Ensors, same age (give or take) and working in the same trade!

Digressing slightly but this is Silas Ensor in 1911 listed as Sadler. I also looked at the signitures of both George Ensors in 1911 and they do appear different ie not the same person.
I can't find George and Susannah at the moment in 1901 but I did find a couple with the same named children of the right ages and parents christian names and I think the surname Loach in 1901 earlier today in the right area which seemed most strange but probalbly complete red herring!

Thanks so much Victoria!
There is no question that they are the people I am looking for, but the names of the other family (George & Kate) are also remembered by family so a bit to unravel me thinks. It's seems a bit strange that 2 George Ensors (not a common name) are both involved in Pearl Buttons at the same time - not sure if 1 George leading 2 lives (George & Kate didnt marry til 1933 - after Susannah died?) or if it is merely a coincidence and they may be cousins or such like! Are you able to find George & Susannah in 1901 by any chance?? Thanks again :0)
>>>> EDIT: Thanks for the marriage, I had seen that and will probably adding the cert to my collection:))
