I would think it more likely to be transcription errors.......the enumerator would have understood the accent, but the Ancestry transcribers couldn't read the record accurately........ |

Thank you Anthony William, I have a death cert for Ann Mitchell, the Stewart's girls grandmother in 1861, Ialso have death certs for Agnes Mitchell and Margaret Stewart, but nothing for Ann b.1840, |

Scottish marriage cert usually have father and mothers names including mothers maiden name for both parties |

Gretna seemed an odd place to marry when she lived all her life in London as I belive back then you had to take residence for about 3 weeks before you could marry,,,,,,I dont know how Gretna marriage work from back then as they didnt come under any Scots ruling or English and anyone could marry you,,,as long as two witnesses oversee it, there was usually a qoue to do this as they charged the couple !!!!!((thats now changed))perhaps they divorced and she went back to her maiden name,? |

Hi I am trying to establish who George Carcary/'s parents were. He was married Margert Millar (I got their names from David and Agnes' marriage certificate) . They had a son David Carcary 14/03/1863 Edzell Angus Scotland -16/04/1935 Arbroath Angus Scotland He married Agnes Thomson 11 July 1856 Rosebank Menmuir |
