scroll down to Palampur there is a grave there for Whayman it could be your Daniel. You can order a copy of the inscription from the site

Hello Joan

I found a mention that you were looking for a death for your gg grandfather Whayman and someone had found that he had died in Umballa, Bengal India. I too had a relative in the Royal Horse Artillery as Sergeant who died in Umballa in 1877.

I wondered if you managed to get the death certificate and whether it says anything else about circumstances etc. than what was mentioned on Family Search? Also do you know where to get the Indian certificates from? I am also looking for a marriage certificate and a birth certificate from the same area. I live in the UK.

The British Library , London (India section). Have been there it is fascinating.
Although not all certificates are there, but you have to check.
