Find Ancestors

I am looking for any members of the Shaw / Boggis family that lived at 75 Cortis Street, Putney from about 1953 to 1967. David and Rhoda May (married Chelsea 1948) were my grandparents and I believe Agnes was the daughter from Davids 1st marriage. Rhoda May´s 1st marriage was to Leonard Boggis and they had 6 children -Terrence L; Derek A; Frederick C; Brian J; Linda R; and David T. Agnes also had a sister called Peggy whose married name is Clark. I have not been able to trace Agnes or Peggys births on the register. Agnes was born 1939 (?) and Peggy 1933 (?). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just checking - Agnes and Peggy (possibly Margaret) were Shaws?

Thanks for your replies-yes I have searched but with no luck on Genes r. I am trying to remember my password for Friends Reunited and I have just searched on freebmd for Agnes and it comes back as sorry cant find a record. I have Agnes Mary Shaw on my birth certificate (Alan John Shaw) so it puzzles me why I cannot find Agnes birth anywhere???

Thanks for pointing me in Jeans direction- however she said she only does the electoral roll for 2009 and couldnt help me. I have given her some more dates and ages and await her reply. Do you have any other ideas that I might try?

what was David Shaw's first wife's maiden name?

can search for births with that mother's maiden name

Peggy was probably Margaret

I have done a bit of detective work but am not sure if this is correct or not! I found another marriage for David Shaw-
Emily F. Fulker married David Shaw-Pancras 1929
What I dont know is how to prove that this is the same David Shaw?

Do you know when David was born? This would at least narrow down the years he would have married and when Agnes was born.
Is the 1939 birth year a wild guess or fairly accurate?

Was looking at these, but I suspect too far away and can't see a corresponding marriage anyway!

Can I re-group a bit? I assume you have Agnes on electoral register at the above address. What makes you believe she is David's daughter? Might sound silly but she could be another relative.

Hi there- I have a form that lists members of Agnes family that lived at 75 Cortis Road Putney. The form is dated 27th Jan 1955. It includes-
David Shaw age 47- Post Office Engineer
Rhoda May Shaw- 42 Housewife (I think this age is wrong !)
Derek Shaw- 17 -Office Work
Frederick Shaw-15 -Just left school
Dennis Shaw-14- School
David Shaw-8 -School
Linda Shaw- 10- School
Ann Shaw- 2 School
Also Peggy Clark -living at Lotts Road- Chelsea-age 21- Office work
From this form it says that Agnes was 15 and would turn 16 in April (1955)
I worked out that David Shaw was born in 1908 but have yet to find it on the register

Hi again- I have other official forms that say David is her father and that Rhoda is her stepmother.

Hi there - another helper on the site has given me the info from the 1954 electoral register to say that David Shaw and Rhoda M. Shaw lived at 75 Cortis Road . They were there from 1953/54 till 1967.
I am open to any suggestions- silly or not! as to Agnes parentage. However she is down on my birth certificate as- mother- Agnes Mary Shaw

This is quite a mystery isn't it.
I wonder if it might be an idea to see who else was living at Lotts Road? A bit long-winded but if you can find Peggy's husband it might point you in the right direction. (Or not!)
You might be able to find David 1911 if you have his father from marriage cert.
EDIT Cortis Road and a Lots Road still seem to be there, about 3 miles apart.

Hi Jan- 1911 ??? Do you think he put his age down wrongly on the form.? I am sure he put Rhodas Mays age down wrong- she was born in 1915 Jul/ Aug/ Sept so in 1955 that would make her 40 and not 42 as is on the form. Also apart from Peggy who is down as Clark all the others are listed as Shaw but looking at the birth dates of Rhodas children with Leonard Boggis -Derek, Frederick, Linda and David are all named Boggis apart from David who is listed as Boggis and Shaw. To make it worse - where did Dennis come from??? Also Ann who was 2 on the form- when I looked her birth up the mothers maiden name is listed as Shaw!!! if it is the same person!! born 1953 Jan /Feb/Mar
