Please could somebody help me find the marriage of Harold Young ( b William Harold Young OND 1898 in Steyning) to Nancy ?( probably Sanderson) some time after the 1st World War. They had three children Zena, Dennis and Richard (names recalled by an aunt). I have searched FreeBMD and found births for a Zena S Young AMJ 1931 and a Dennis S Young OND 1927 but no Richard as yet. This is where I have the surname Sanderson from. At some stage the couple seperated and Nancy went to Canada with at least one son. If anyone could tell me where I could find evidence of her emigrating I would appreciate it. The family story says her son returned to England to try and trace his relatives but the uncle he contacted wouldn't help him because of some past family row. I'd love to try and put that right if I could find him and this is my starting point. |

Michael, I think that would be too late and doesn't tie up with the birth records but worth considering if nothing else turns up.We know that records aren't always accurate!! |

Not convinced unless the A is for Ann, alias Nancy |

Problem is, Nancy was often used as a pet name. By all means look further but you are fortunate in having Zena's unusual name to work with, and her birth cert will give you mother's name of course. |

Just speculating, but in view of Lanchester marriage - maybe Richard was illegitimate?: |

It may be that Sanderson was her maiden name which would show on the birth registration, but she may have been a widow when they married so the marriage could be under a completely different name. |

brummiejan, Now thats a possibility - not a first by any means in this family! |

There are so many possibilities aren't there? A widow could be very likely in view of the war - another avenue for me to investigate. Thanks for the suggestion. |
