Anne
Do you have any registers for St. John Eltham around mid/late 1700s?
Thanks,

I have a record of the baptism of my 2xgreat grandfather George Thomas Shepherd on 2/2/1823 at union Independent Chapel , Sim Alley off Church St Woolwich dob 9/1/1823. father Joseph, mother Mary and place of abode Plumstead. Spelling on his marriage cert to Ann lee in Woolwich 3/3/1844 is Sheppard and signature is Shephard. Joseph is a labourer and the curate looks like E Sheppard or Shepherd. I have found George in the 1841,51 and 61 census but can't find his parents marriage or any siblings, their deaths or in the census's. Can anYone help me find more about Joseph and Mary please?

Hi Anne I'm in Australia so you can appreciate how hard it is to find info out here that is before 1830's. My gr gr great grandfather's family came from Woolwich. His father was Richard Harrison and mother was Ann Unknown. they had 4 children, that I know of :- Elizabeth Feb 1811, John Sept 1814, Martha Ann Aug 1816, and Jane Aug 1819 all born St Mary Magdalene, Woolwich. I hate to ask but if you can find out Ann's surname and if they had more children I'd be very grateful. Thank You Val

Hi Anne
Just wondered if you was still offering infomation on woolwich
I have a David Henry King born 1890 in Woolwich baptised 26/03/1890 at holy trinity woolwich. His parents was Alexander king and Elizabeth King (nee Shaw) they had 11 children in total
I have David in the 1901 census, then he has just dissapeared.
What is a bit strange their is one of his sibling's with the name of David King born 1907, so i think David Henry may of died, when I dont know.
I just wondered if you could throw any light on this.
you have helped me in the past with this family but I have not asked about David before.
If you are no longer on this site then please dont worry
Thanks in advance
Deb

Hi Christine Sandra has made her entry confusing for we have NOT got PETER BAULF DEATH Certificate but his BURIAL Certificate dated year 1825 from Kew looking at it as I type. Does not give details of Death but where he died and his age which was 50 yrs like I said. As you know DEATH Certificate gives cause of DEATH. Sandra, nor I when visiting LMA, found details of his BIRTH Certificate which I am doing my best to trace. Thanks for coming back to me and here is hoping ANN can shed some light for me. Regards Vic

Vic The details on the death certificate are given by an informant who may have given to the best of their knowledge but may not have been accurate. I believe Sandra found the birth at the London Metropolitan archives.

Hi Christine I am still trying to find confirmation of the Birth of Gtx Grandad PETER BAULF and from what I am saying to ANN and LadyKira all contacts seem to have it wrong when I look at details on his Burial Certificate. This, dated 1825, shows his age as 50yrs and it does not take a maths wizard to work things out. Appreciate any and all help it is more than frustrating as Sandra and I have searched most avenues. Regards Vic
