i wonder if this could be edwards birth registration as in the 1901 census the family we think it is was living in st giles london & its the only edward jacobs birth for around that time & area it might be worth spending the £7 to get the birth cert

WOOP WOOP lol so i,m 98% sure that the birth registration i found for edward james jacobs is the right one i think it would be worth the £7 to see what it says at last i think we maybe getting somewhere
but still can,t find him on the 1911 census yet but will have another look

yes to an elisa i think he was in 1 world war he lost an arm or leg and if i am right they had a son william too

i think the next step is to order edward birth cert from the ref i have given you & see what it says then you will know for sure if were on the right track with the alfred & amelia

I have got a little lost here as I have been working away in a different direction - I will post what I have found as soon as it makes sense.

Could I just ask - are you expecting this Edward James to be the son of the Alfred W + Amelia E that we have on census or have we decided that they are definately the wrong family, as he is not the son of those parents ?
