Find Ancestors

My soldier didn't have an unusual name so only way I was able to confirm my relative who died in WW1 was through Ancestry. I was able to view the telegram sent to my Gt Grandparents.
All his next of kin were listed on a pension document (even uncles) along with his address which matched my records.

I have a quick search of this website: www.cwgc.org, but with the details you have, nothing came up.

I used this site and from my great grandfather and where he died and where he was buries. The information I found also gave me a positive result by mentioning my Great Grandmothers name as his widows. I also used it to trace my husbands great grandfather too.

It might be worth a look yourself.

what are the details of Hattie on the marrige cert i.e age, fathers name etc

In her first message she says he was in the R.C.A - I think that hould be the R.G.A in which case the French death is his.

I can't see how the one in Ebblinghem can be the correct one as his full name was:

Name - HILLIER William Henry Manley

and not William Horace Hillier!

How about William Horace Hillier disappeared during the war, but did not die. Hattie could not remarry to Mr Crutch, but took his name......

Looks probable. Hatcham/Deptford are the same place

only problem is that the 1911 census says he is apprentice electrical engineer (maybe he changed his mind!)

I'm not sure whether Chloe in her initial post is referring to a personal record held by the family, but the service numbers match the Ebblingham Cemetery record.
