Hi

I'm afraid I do have one more query on this thread despite what I said. I have been entering the details on my tree. Something strange about this baptism record:

Name: May Elizabeth Briaris
Record Type: Baptism
Date: 14 Jun 1904
Father's Name: Walker Briaris>>>Carman
Mother's Name: Emily Margaret Briaris
Parish: Lady Margaret Church
Borough: Southwark
County: Middlesex

Apart from the fact that Walter Briaris (not Walker) was the father I do have the actual Birth Certificate in my grubby little paws which is quite clear that May was born on 11th May 1905! at 2.40 am (presumably because she was a twin and Walter John's Certificate would show a later or earlier time).

Do not know if you are able to look at original to check that this is a transcription error and should read 1905 not 1904.

Thanks
Jeanie

Edit: About time I retired for the night. Will check tomorrow to see if anyone found the above. Night night.

You are correct.

At the top of the book of baptisms it does say "In the year of One Thousand Nine hundred and Five " So 1905 it was.

On one of the baptisms above the twins it gives the birthdate of another child in 1904 and the transcriber has obviously made EVERYTHING 1904.

And it is Walter on the original, not Walker for son and father.

Off to bed
Night ~~~~~~~~~~~

Always an exciting time.

Thanks for asking.

I havent seen them yet as they are in Somerset and I am in Wales, but I go in about 2 weeks.

But I caved in and joined Facebook as his picture was put on there within an hour so his great grand mother (my mother)told me,well, what could I do,I had to look and it was the only way.
The whole family were on it except me it seems, so now all I get is mail asking to be "a friend". I have never been so popular !,and all I wanted was to see the babys picture !
My brother had shown her the pic as she isnt on it.

But all this time I have asked for more pictures of my other Grandkids and there are STACKS on there,so no more having to nag to get them,I just print them off.

But I dont really like the site,so pictures only for me really.

Just popped in on the off chance you were about. Glad Facebook has come up trumps in one respect. I tried that route to find some ancestors as there was a surname group but didn't get anything. Then something on one of the boards alarmed me and I deactivated my account. Had only tried one other thing on there - recognised a photo of someone I used to work with - at least I'm pretty sure it was her and I did go to her wedding reception at Streatham Ice Rink when I was just over a month to give birth to my first so it sticks in my mind a bit. Sent a message but didn't get any reply - so like you didn't think much of the site anyway.

Glad you'll be going to visit quite soon. Hope you enjoy your stay.

By the way I knew you were in Wales - Dee told me she used to live in same area and had been in touch with you. Didn't know where the new grand-child was though.

Kind regards
Jeanie

Hi

Not a peep from Dee I'm afraid.

Sorry to disappoint you - we were talking about you behind your back but it was all GOOD.

My daughter has gone on Ancestry with a Tesco voucher but only gives her basic stuff. Trying to persuade her to upgrade if I share the cost with her. Watch this space. May be able to search for my own stuff then.

Had a look at General Topic Board for the first time this morning. I see that someone (Daff?) is trying to arrange a get together of Genes members in Wales later this year. Might you go?
