That is a direct hit, Viv. Thank you again. I know it's spot on because I have the newspaper cutting from when Dad's dad died in 1957. It names Harry and Annie as his sorrowing siblings!! Where were you when I started researching Dad's story three years ago!!!??????

Yes, the 1911 is a bulls-eye too!!!! On the Marriage cert, William Henry Usher is registered as living at 2, Daventry Street, Southam!!!

I have had a quick look for ww1 records for him,but none seem to be him/

I am off now but will have a look again tomorrow.

If you need help with this lot further, just drop a line on here and we ladies will try to oblige.

I do wish there was some real way to prove my theorys of your dads parentage though..

Listen, if I don't go to bed now I'll never get up for work in the morning and I have already taken up most of your evening. You've worked like a Trojan and for that I'm deeply grateful.

Thanks again Viv.

Your friend.

Just what I had been going to ask when I signed on Maryb.
Being of the nosey variety of vivs.

I dont see an Usher / Patrick birth...
And also MaryJane/Dorothy was getting a little past it by the time she married Mr Usher.

Although my Paternal Gran did have her last one at 47..

Good evening ladies. Sorry for delayed reply, only got in from work an hour ago!!!

Anyway, to answer your question... Dad's half sister, Susanne, was born in 1940 to an unmarried couple... Bruce Waring and Elsie Aldridge. The Usher's adopted Susanne when she was three years old.

Ahh,so she is not a half sister then, but an adoptive sister as she is not of the same blood,if you see what I mean.
I dont mean that rudely, but dont know how else to phrase it.

Her birth details would therefore be of no use in your search as she has totally different birth parents.

And I was correct in thinking that Mary Jane /Dorothy was getting a little past childbearing.

I have searched again for ww1 records for W H Usher, but if he was in the army they(a) did not survive the blitz(b)have not been transcribed or (C)he was in a different force.
