Okay, basic questions. How are you sure that the William George Manser we found in 1901 is the right man? Do you have his marriage cert to confirm his father's name and occupation?

It sure is! Have just spoken to my dad and he said that he's Grandfather worked for a company in London that made guns hence being told that he was a gun smith. Going back to 1871 cencus i viewed the original transcript, again and again it clearly states thats where he is in the household he is grandson. And that he was living on Mands Farm Chigwell Epping Essex.

And that he was a printer and that he's Father was a pressmaker brass finisher. Hilda is my Grandmother there are 3 other children Vera, Lily and Ron. Have no idea of when they were born I do have pictures of me with both my GG Parents I'll have to get them from my folks then scan and up load them to my tree

The family of Maryon/Manser in 1871 is likely not living on any farm at all, certainly not Mands farm. As we have found a perfectly good 1871 census record for the family I am not sure why you led us a merry dance to find another one.

You say you are good at reading old-style writing. The name of the farm two pages earlier is quite clearly WOODLANDS Farm, I didn't even struggle with it, never even considered that was the Mands Farm to which you were referring. It is not "old style writing" at all, but perfectly clear normal writing.

It is likely that only the family of farmers listed against Woodlands Farm are living there, the others are simply somewhere in the parish of Chigwell.

I think the herbal fags and gin have coloured your mind. :-)

Your William G born 1882, litho printer, who married Mabel Anna in 1904, is the son of William Edwin born 1857 in Bethnal Green who was a Brass Finisher and married Ellen Ann Gill in 1880. William Edwin's father was William, a Furniture Japanner (varnisher) and his mother was Eliza Ann Woodley; Ellen Ann's father was George, a bootmaker.

We have found William Edwin and Ellen Ann in 1891 and 1901, with their son William/William G. We haven't found them in 1881 just after their marriage. William Edwin appears to marry a second wife Harriet about 1910.

We have found William Edwin with his parents in 1871 - and it's not at Mand's Farm!

We are looking for the ancestors of Mr. Edwin Manser, who was born in London in about 1893. His Father was also named Edwin and his siblings (3 brothers and a sister) may have been named William, James John and Alice. Can anybody help please?

It would be better to start your own thread, rather than latching on to someone else's old one, which probably has no connection
