The birth Maddie found in 1879 was an illegitimate birth (from the GRO website) which is probably why she was adopted.

Hmm I’m not very good at this.. how much was fabricated in stories I don’t know -
In the 1911 census when married she states she was 29 born in Bootle - but according to my mother she was born in Ireland - my mother has 2 cousins left who would also be Anne grandchildren I will try ask some questions - thanks again

I think she is Anne Boylan born in Ireland 1881... all that side of my family died before I was 12, on the census I think she lied stating she was born in Bootle she may of lied re dob also... I remember a story from my mother staying she was on her way to New York from Ireland and decided to get off in Liverpool as she thought it looked like she could make a good living...taking meat back and forth to Ireland- I found a ship record and Anne Boylan was the only name with no tick next to it...

There's no reason given for her not travelling, and no mention of the ship putting in at Liverpool outward bound.

The ship did go to Liverpool on the return journey from New York later that month..

According to 1939 Register, Annie was born 19/11 /1881.

There's no Ann (or variation) Boylan birth registered in Liverpool area at that time.

I’m trying to find mother and father for Annie connolly maiden name Boylan I think she fibbed on the 1911 census I’m sure she was born in Ireland and left for New York but decided to disembark at Liverpool
