Hi Zena

Sorry I have drawn a blank. I have found everything else: children, deaths, wife's death, burials...but not a marriage! Checked Vic, NSW, Qld & WA. Even UK & NZ! With a surname like Fraser she may be Scottish. Maybe they married there?

I do believe son George was the youngest - b. 1894. By this time she was almost 40. It is possible she had been married previously? But her eldest son was named Charles so...very frustrating!

Actually just found your post about him leaving a family behind in England. This being the case he and Mary may never have actually married legally, just acted as man and wife. That would explain why the story changed from one document to another!

Ship was Dudbrook. See http://members.iinet.net.au/~perthdps/convicts/con-wa7.html

Young Thomas D. 1598 10y 26 Central Criminal Court 18 08 1851
clerk S none 5' 4 3/4" brown hazel oval fresh stout

He was a postal clerk, charged with stealing cash from a letter (see Old Bailey online).

http://www.fremantleprison.com.au/Pages/Convict.aspx

Thomas George according to Fremantle prison site, Ticket of Leave Date 19 Dec 1853, Conditional Pardon Date Jan 1856.

Sorry can't see him after that. Might be worth getting a copy of the pardon as it may tell you where he was working. Possible he went interstate.

Trying to find another relative of mine. I have a wedding (2nd marriage) and found this at Trove. OGILVIE-WILLIAMS Iris M daughter of Mr & Mrs Mott of Broken Hill to Raymond H younger son of Mr & Mrs Williams brown St Semaphore (SA?) will be solemised at Lutheran Church April 10 1943.
This is one of my Mott relatives and I have been trying to find out for sometime who her parents were. Her first husband was killed in WW1 - Stuart Ogilvie and they married 1938 Broken Hill. Can you help. Pat

No sorry - if they married in SA maybe Kerri on these boards can help - the marriage reg may state father's name.

That would be a great help. My 85 year old father say that her parents were Clarence Nott and Edith Irene Mott (my father's auntie) who married in 1928 at Broken Hill. Iris must have been born prior to their marriage - perhaps between 1920-28.

Thanks

Pat

Hi Pat

Something doesn't add up there - was Edith Irene born a MOTT? If so she married very late since if iris is her daughter, the daughter married only 10yrs after her mother did!

Also wouldn't the marriage notice say she was the daughter of Mr & Mrs NOTT (or Mrs Mott), rather than Mr & Mrs Mott?

???

try kerri's thread - if you can't find it I will nudge it for you

Cherilyn

I am thinking that the marriage notice in the Barrier Mail Broken Hill is a typing error and should say Nott not Mott. My father insists that Clarence NOTT and Edith MOTT were her parents so they must have had her some time before there marriage in 1928. I have found more information on her 2nd marriage (after the death of her husband Stuart (Stewart) Ogilivie) to Raymond Williams at Semaphore SA and the electoral role for that area June 1943 and found that Raymond Henry (laborer) and Iris Mary (home duties) Williams were living at 42 South Terrace, Semaphore and Albert Norman (spinner), Albert Charles (teacher) and Olive Pearl (home duties) Williams were living at 20 Brown Street, Semaphore.

This still doesn't solve my problem of confirming that Clarence Nott and Edith Mott were her parents. Would love the link to kerri's thread as suggested.

Many thanks

pat

Hi Cherlyn,
You have helped me before and I'm back again. I'm looking for the marriage of James Wood in Victoria. He was born in 1827 Rugeley, Staffordshire, and parents were John & Charlotte. He lived and died at Eaglehawk as far as I know.
Thanks...Heather
