Hi Lily, all thanks to your last post, i am on a roll regarding the Peek/Bennetts! I have even found the marriage entry! I have Blacksmiths, a VICTUALER! (I think that means she ran an Offy!) and a Yeoman! I am as far back as Baby Jesus! You would'nt by any chance know who his parents are? Give yourself a hug...thankyou.. Sue x |

Hello again Lily. Listen, honestly, thankyou soo much for all the time and effort you spent searching. I have an idea that if i scan and send you a copy of Sydneys marriage cert, you might be able to decipher the surname of the first wife.Do you think that might be helpful? I would love to recieve the article reporting the death of Peter. I have never sent a PM before, would i be right in assuming that i just click on your name? If i could trouble you further, you gave me the names of Sydneys parents ..Henry Grant and Ann Bennett Peek. I have found them on 1891 and 1901 census, residing in Jersey on both but can find nothing earlier to enable me to trace back to thier parents. So any help on that score would also be very much appreciated. ..thanks again Lily,.. Sue x |

I have to admit defeat. I have been through the marriage records for the entire island - twice - and there is no record Sid of marrying over here. |

Good luck Lily, this seems like my last hope. Its just that it would be so interesting to find out if there are any half siblings out there somewhere! Thankyou ... Sue. x |

I'll have a look through the marriages next time I'm at the Archive, presumably about 1930 to 1948 should cover it, let's hope it was in St Helier! |

For she's a jolly good fellow, for she's a jolly good fellow! Give yourself a pat on the back Lily. Well confirms that then! Thankyou so much for your time and effort.Everything all falls into place now. However, (please dont either you or jansmith even consider self harming at this point!!) BUT, regarding Sydneys first marriage to a Dorothy Eugnie ??? if any information can be found i would be extremely gratefull. Its one of those things that i just cant put to rest.,, Amen. Sue |

Bless jansmiths cotton socks for all the information she found but i did think oh no! Poor Lily! now she has at least six brothers to choose from as to who is the father of Peter!! So well done Lily and thanyou very much. I wonder if Owen was on duty with Peter the night he drowned. Brrr gives me a chill, I found a Jersey website today that gave me an online tour around the inside of Corbiere Lighthouse and i couldnt help thinking - god i wish my kitchen was that clean! Thankyou both for you time, it really is very much apprieciated - i am off to check out the Tramp now!...Sue. |
