I have kindly been given this info from a G.R. member yesterday and have spent ages looking for Reg & Jessies parents, but cant find anything:
London, England, Marriages and Banns, 1754-1921 Name: Reginald Charles Quick Age: 27 Estimated birth year: abt 1888 Spouse Name: Jessie Lena Irish Spouse Age: 25 Record Type: Marriage Event Date: 16 Oct 1915 Parish: Saint Barnabas, Southfields County: Middlesex Borough: Wandsworth
Father Name: Alfred Quick (decd) Tram Conductor Spouse Father Name: John Irish (decd) Soldier
Source Citation: London Metropolitan Archives, Saint Barnabas, Southfields, Register of marriages, P95/BAN, Item 076
Bridegroom a Bachelor - address - Colwood Gardens, Bolney, Sussex Occupation - Gardener Bride a Spinster - address - 9 Smeaton Road - Domestic Servant Witnesses - Charles Chaplin and Mrs. Dudman
I am looking to find out more - in particualr about Alfred Quick & his wife and any other children that they had. I have looked on Free BMD & Family seach, but havent found anything.
I know that Alfred was a tram driver - probably born c 1860 and his son Reginald was a gardener born c1880.
Can anyone please find the family in any of the census records?

Hi ..thanks Anne
At the moment - I cant see Alfred being a clerk and then a tram conductor - so I suspect that this isnt the correct family........although aged 21 would be about right for Alfred.
In the 'Quick' family...the names Leonard, Charles & Sidney appear a lot.....so not sure about John & Frederick ?

Wow....that is so much info (from the very little, that I had to start with )...Thank you all so much.
Liz
I notice that on the 1901census for the 'Quick ' family - the head & wife were called ' Perry' - is that because they had been married before? ie - how do the 'Quicks' children come about?

Mary Gapper was married to Alfred Quick. When he died, Mary Quick married Walter Henry Perry and had the 3 children who are named last in the census. They should have the surname Quick but have been mistranscribed.
The marriages are all in the thread but perhaps they are not very easy to see.

Hi Liz
You are too quick for me.......
( I think that our messages have 'crossed' & you have now answered the Quicks re-marriage question - thank you.
Somewhere between 1881 - Alfred - farm lab & 1891 Alfred's death......is it possible that he became a tram conductor - as , in the original marriage of his son Reginald, this is how he was described....... Father Name: Alfred Quick (decd) Tram Conductor and I wonder why Reginald had moved to Wandsworth & married there?

Hi again folks.........I just wanted to thank everyone for their help today - been invaluable.....I am trying to find as much info about Reginald Quick & his wife Jessie Lena Irish as possible before Xmas as I have my in-laws visiting ( in their late 80's ) and my father in law is the grandson of Reg Quick...........obviously, there is not a lot of time to confirm everything with certs ( or the money to be honest)...but I would like to be as sure as possible ..as I would like to give a mini family tree to my father in law whilst he is visiting me.
This is what I have ( amongst other things)....
1891 Green Acre, Axmouth QUICK, Reginald Grandson M 2 1889 Bristol
1901 Shapwick, Uplyme QUICK, Reginald Step Son Single M 12 1889 Bristol
1911 census - LITTLEBREDY DORCHESTER
QUICK, REGINALD CHARLES HEAD JOINT OCCUPIER SINGLE M 22 DOMESTIC GARDENER GLOU BRISTOL QUICK REGINALD CHARLES (RG14PN12404 RG78PN707 RD264 SD3 ED7 SN14) Address BOTHY LITTLEBREDY DORCHESTER County Dorsetshire

London, England, Marriages and Banns, 1754-1921 Name: Reginald Charles Quick Age: 27 Estimated birth year: abt 1888 Spouse Name: Jessie Lena Irish Spouse Age: 25 Record Type: Marriage Event Date: 16 Oct 1915 Parish: Saint Barnabas, Southfields County: Middlesex Borough: Wandsworth
Father Name: Alfred Quick (decd) Tram Conductor Spouse Father Name: John Irish (decd) Soldier
Do we believe that this is the SAME Reginald Quick in all of these cases?
Also, as an aside, it would be great if I could find out about the parents of Jessie Irish Just their names ...birth...marriage....and occupation would be great..... I have already looked on free BMD for a pos marriage......but I am not terribly good as I really couldnt find anything at all......
so, if anyone is able to help with this last 'call' .....that would be really great.
Once again Thank you so much Gill

I would imagine being a tram driver was a better paid job than ag lab, which was very poorly paid, so maybe when he got married he was lucky enough to get a job in Bristol, where both the boys were born. Jessie was from London and was in Chudleigh, Devon ,in 1911 so perhaps they met when he returned home. I know Chudleigh and Uplyme, where his mother was, are not close but who knows? Anyway, I would imagine she went back home to get married.

The tree on ancestry has this census attached to her. It states she was born in Chichester, 29 Oct 1890 to John Rodgers Irish and Kesiah Irish, daughter of John Irish and Kesiah Smith. The tree is pretty detailed so it would be worth getting in touch with the owner.
