If Elizabeth was in the Workhouse, it may be worth checking to see if the poor relief records have survived as they often give lots of information. |

Well plenty here for Plonker to pick up on . He might still be asleep as he sent me a message this morning at 2.30am !! You clever people! If anyone is coming back to this is there any sign of Nicholas' father James Powell c 1790 born Ireland , according to Mick's tree. Not sure if the family came over or just Nicholas. I sent Mick a pm last night suggesting he may be from Dublin ,simply to do with ease of access to the ferries .Anyone suggest who to contact in Ireland who could help Mick. Dublin archives? National library ? I did read something about a fire in 1920 wiping out a lot of records ?? |

hi on brsgenealogy there is one nicholas powell born ireland (all brsgenealogy is ireland) but to early for it to be your one ..lots of james powells .a pity you have no info on him ..if you had his death date you could work it out from that ..dont give up it took me two years to find my ggrandad in ireland ..now i also have found his father ..as i said earlier as more records come on line with brs your chance of locating him will increase ..i put a message once on this thread asking when certian counties would come online ..a very helpful lady answered me but i have deleated thread now and forgotton her name ..maybe if she sees this she will put a reply again ..re copies of old newspapers ..you have to search at local library yourself as they are on microfilch ..if you have a deffinate date they will search that for you (that means date of death ).near me they will only search a week not a year .voulenteers do it .keep digging regards keith. |
