There were two bay Washbournes baptised the same day but with different parents.
Could the two fathers be brothers?

One census I looked at had two families of Washbounrne's living close but by ages they could have been brothers. I think the others name was George.
EDIT not George, but Joseph who is two years older than John Washbourne. It is on the 1891 census. These are all the Washbourne's on that page.

THE MALLIER FAMILY
A recent correspondent to the Site enquired about the Mallier family, a William Mallier being her direct descendant.
We were able to inform her that the earliest reference to Mallier was to be found in the Parish Registers in 1784 when Thomas Salmon Mallier, the child of John and Joyce was baptised. The last reference was to a later Thomas, buried in the Wolfords in 1902 aged 76. There were details of three generations who resided in the village in between, all of whom were prolific having nine , three and eight children respectively.
The family are reported as resident in Little Wolford in the Victorian censuses from 1841 to 1891 but not 1901. Thus:-
1841 1851 1861 1871 1881 1891 William 40 50 Diana 40 50 Richard 13 23 Thomas 26 36 46 56 66 Emma 24 35 45 65 Caroline 3 mths 10 18 Ellen 8 20 Lydea 7 Richard 5 14 William 3 23 Dinah 1 11 George 5 15
Many were buried in St Michaels Churchyard, but no Mallier burial is commemorated with a gravestone. They were a labouring family and tenants of Sir George Philips of a cottage and garden in L:ittle Wolford and it is likely that gravestones would be beyond their means.
Little is known of the lives of the Malliers. A previous correcspondent has noted that Richard, born 1855 and his younger brother William, born 1858, migrated to Birmingham c 1875, whilst George, born 1865, was killed when hit by a cricket ball during a cricket match on the village green. I have not attempted to confirm that latter incident but if it were true it would almost certainly have been noted in the local papers
This was a table but has not copied well so go straigt to the link, Incidentally there is a picture on the site of the fourshire stone marking the boundaries of Gloucester Warwickshire worcesterchire and oxfordshire.
My ancestors lived in a farm opposite this stone,

Hi Mel
It just shows how important it is to google everything. Sometimes you come up with nothing and suddenly you come up trumps, Hope you learn this one James. I am also interested because of my own family being in the area. I have just returned from a trip visiting many of the lovely villages.

Mel & Christine,
Thank you ever so much for your efforts. My brick wall of no names was obviously quite small, just needed a boost from some wiser people.
Thank you again. James
