Alice may not have registered his birth. We know Alice wasn't married when William was born .......... so therefore no fathers name would appear on his marriage cert, unless he had put James (stepfather), this happened occassionally, however you state that there was no name........ so he was fatherless.

hi all i have now got the birth ceri for william henry barnett from hyde born 29/2/1972 father james barnett mother lydia barnett as you see it is the wrong one my william henry barnett mother was alice barnett unwed and i have no name for the father his name was not on the marriage cert so i dont know what to think

my rel has the birth cert for that one he is going to send it to me i will let you know but he dosnt think so but may be hes wrong i no it sounds likely x

could Alice have been away from home when she had William

Alice may not have registered his birth, it was the registers job to track down newborns until 1875............. then it became the parents responsibility to ensure they were registered or they would have a penalty to pay.

thomas mason past away 1873 age 63 west macclesfield

William Henry Barnett was born roughly March quarter 1873, Alice marries Mr Lockett in 1880......... just can't see a birth reg for him.

Image is very poor, it states she is unmarried, also a servant........... if it was Emma I would have thought her occupation would be something to do with silk. Gut feeling is that it's NOT her, but that's up to Lisa to decide.

I'll trawl through the Leek and Lowe 1871 just incase.

Think I've found Thomas Mayson, born 1815 in Macclesfield, unmarried pensioner....... looked at the images and still no signs of a possible match for Emma.

I'll look now Ann.......... here's Ralphs death;
