Hi Cindy,
I haven't been able to identify a birth but the address they gave on their marriage cert comes up on an address search on 1911 census.
24 CARMEN ST POPLAR Poplar Borough Poplar London
It could be worth viewing the transcription to see if there were any family members living with him.

Dea I am stunned at what you have found, i assume as you get used to searching it becomes easier. To me alot of it is hard to tie together at the moment, and because i wanted so much to find him etc i couldnt find him. i am aware it is probably easy to get mis-leads and how easy it could be to make them fit, but i couldnt even get that far. I also made the mistake of assuming, records are always correct. My mum has never known aything except the snippits i gave you about her father so it is, for us a huge thing. thank you. i will be on line again your a.m if you are around Cindy x

Hi Cindy,
It's just a matter of 'plodding' through the census's I am afraid.
On this occasion, I took the family who I think is the one on 1891.
I couldn't find them together on 1901 so looked at each of the children's names individually.
I found Robert with the Jones's and noticed that there was a William also but the age was wrong so I went back to 1891 to check image and realised that it was mistranscribed as age 4 when it actually said 11 !! - This then fitted.
I think I have Arthur also - he is with a family in Chester but I don't think they are at all related - the family also have another child boarding with them so perhaps they are just 'carers' of some sort/?? :
1901 England Census about Arthur Knott Name: Arthur Knott Age: 14 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1887 Relation: Boarder Gender: Male Where born: Hackney, London, England Civil parish: Chester Ecclesiastical parish: St Paul County/Island: Cheshire Country: England Registration district: Chester Sub-registration district: Chester Castle ED, institution, or vessel: 17 Neighbors: View others on page Household schedule number: 135 Household Members: Name Age George Bartley 30 salop Nursery Gardener Sarah A Bartley 31 salop Lilian E Bartley 7 chester Ethel E Bartley 1 chester Arthur Knott 14 Boarder - Errand Boy at Port - worker Reginald Sproston 4 - Boarder b Chester ***** DONT think they are at all related !!

...........
I think Jane may have married but may have to leave that one until tomorrow. - You could see if you can find one on FreeBmd?
I personally find the Ancestry site best for census info and it is much better value than any other site I have found.
Best of luck,
Dea x
P.S.
Sadly, I think Jane may have died:

Dea i keep saying thank you, but i am so amazed how you guys piece all this together, i am fairly new to it all, (we never would have guessed :-) and kind of muddle thro. the sites i use are freeBDM, genes gold member but get lost on the BDM listings cos they dont say who married who.and family search and the deaths/births again to me are just lists. can i ask where you search.and how did you tie the brothers together....confused of Adelaide (but oh so keen to learn)

There 'may' be a connection through one of George Knox's marriages to the name Jones ?
It looks as though poor George was widdowed more than once but I need to follow this through before I post the info - I do not want to confuse with the wrong info!!
Will work on it!

Hi, Bromley east London at that time would have been middlesex, and the church may have been St Paul's on the Common, (my grandparents were married there) also what orphanage are you talking about, I often go to the archives at Northampton Row and they if anyone would know what happened to the records cant go till the school hols though. Regards Joan.

It needs more work to prove it but I believe this is 'your' Thomas on 1891 - all the children seem to scatter after this census and I have followed a few but can't do more until later so I will post it and perhaps someone could follow the links?
1891 England Census about Thomas Knott Name: Thomas Knott Age: 5 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1886 Relation: Son Father's Name: George Gender: Male Where born: Lambeth, London, England Civil parish: Mile End Old Town Ecclesiastical parish: St Lukes Mile End Old Town County/Island: London Country: England Registration district: Mile End Old Town Sub-registration district: Mile End Old Town, Eastern ED, institution, or vessel: 38 Neighbors: View others on page Household Members: Name Age George Knott 49 Glass manufacturer James Knott 19 William Knott 4 ......... He is 11 on image !!! Jame Knott 9 .............. JANE on image - daughter. Robert Knott 7 Thomas Knott 5 Arthur Knott 4 at 26 St. Anne's Rd. Going by his age (assuming he wasn't telling porkies and was 21) and the date of the marriage - he could have been born anytime between 16 April 1889 and 14 April 1891.
Not sure if that will help but you may possibly need to search a wider time period for a possible birth.
