please could someone visiting Durham records office look up the birth and death records and any other info poss for James Reay b. c. 1897 , he died around 1943 in durham and i believe he was buried in Gilesgate cemetary. Thanks in anticipation. |

Thanks for your reply , not sure if that is his b. record , on his marriage cert it says he was 30 , and that was in 1917 - his second marriage. Can't find first marriage. |

I don't know anything about his first marriage , the only reason i know he was married twice is because on the marr cert in1917 , it says he was a widower. Do you think that could be wrong? |

His fathers name was given as john reay and said he was deceased. |

Yes somerset girl , that could poss be his 1st marriage , but I too have yet to find the death record for her. |

One of these could well be him , there are so many james and john reays that it gets confusing . The olny concrete evidence i have is the marriage cert , giving james age as 30 , in 1917 , so that means he hust have been born in 1896/7. thanks for your help and if you find anything else I would be very grateful to you. |

James was my maternal grandfather , but died when my mum was very young so she can't remember much. |
