Hi Jacqueline,
I'm searching for the last location and death dates of my Grandmother Lydia Mellors and her second husband. She was born Lydia Knowles 1889 in Bury, first marriage was to David Mitchell in Halifax in 1907 where they lived, after his death I know she married Frank Mellor (not sure where he was born) in Lambeth in June qtr of1937 . I am assuming they lived and died in Lambeth thereafter.
Can you help please ?
Thank you, Frank
Edit:- It appears Lydia was living in Halifax in the early 1940's staying with her son - but Mellor wasn't with her - so she may have separated from him unless he had died.

Hello Jacqueline and thank you for your kind offer to help. On the 1871 census I am looking for Stephen and Margaret Aspinall, (or Aspinwall) both born about 1835 and their children Margaret and Ellen and possibly Catherine. Stephen worked on the barges on the Leeds/Liverpool Canal. Obviously not sure if they were 'on board' or at home on census night. The family were from the Burscough/Lathom area of Lancashire but travelled on the boats up to Liverpool. Thank you again, from Beryl

Hi Frank,
Sorry I missed your message before.
There are quite a few of the same name, so a bit difficult. But I found this one in Halifax as that is where you last know of her and age is correct
England & Wales, Death Index: 1916-2005 about Lydia Mellor Name: Lydia Mellor Death Registration Month/Year: 1945 Age at death (estimated): 55 Registration district: Halifax Inferred County: Yorkshire West Riding Volume: 9a Page: 452
What do you think?

Thank you so much Jackie for that.
Yes it makes perfect sense to me as Lydia was born in the September quarter of 1889, so if she died in the first half of 1945 (your search doesn't say which quarter) she would have been 55. Also she died before I was born in 1947 which fits too. Since posting this request I believe I have found a GR contact who is Frank Mellors step daughter. She tells me he remarried in Halifax (to her mum) in 1953 and died In Halifax some time in 1958. So the mystery is unravelling, thanks for your help !
