The Charles Place born in Durham in 1909 is indeed more likely to be your Charles than the Charles Addison I found. |

I expect that's EDITH JANE (the census result does say EITH JANE). And that's your missing aunt?! |

I never thought of that Evie. Why would he then change his name to Plaice? and then my Uncle as well? The mystery deepens. |

Yes, I've been thinking William's name was actually Addison ... |

Is this your uncle's death? |

You'd have to pay to access the 1911 details, but I wouldn't be surprised at a mistranscription or misspelling in the original. |

Jacqueline, you really have to get the 1918 marriage cert to get a handle on William's details -- age, occupation, father. That's the only way you can know whether he is likely the William who died in 1920. |

To put that together: died in 1920 at age 50. So born c1870. |

Sorry I was away from my computer for a while. William A Plaice's age at date of death in M'Bro was 50. He did indeed marry Frances Mary Lowery in 1918. I have looked through the bmd's on this site and free bmd but cannot trace his birth at all. In 1901 census I have found a William Plaice but living in London. |
