ALICE MARY ADCOCKShe had a brother in Burnley,,I think he was older than her. I do  not know if there were other siblings and cannot remember his name. He had a son and he was called Alan born approx 1923 and he moved to Nelson when he married.. looking for his children if he had any.  Burnley/Nelson LancashireI  have no idea where Alice Mary or her brother were born. But I know for sure that she died a few months before my 4th birthday. that would be 1936 and was 54 yrs old give or take a few months. [I do not know her exact birthday]. However she would have been born in 1882, also give or take a few months. but not years. She died in West Hill Hospital Dartford Kent and was burried as Alice Mary Hickling next to George Hickling in Crayford Cemetary. kent  This information contradicts some of my initial item but is now correct. She married Albert Ernest Davies [which could be writen Davis]from wales.Possibly born in Aberystwyth He was a mechant seaman. His Father ran a wine and lemonade store where they made their own. They were certainly in this area of old town Aberyswyth by1990 at the very latest  as two of the children were said to be born there and My father lived there from a few weeks old until he was 8 years old when he went to live in Buckingham Palace mews in1912. [first home on the right as you enter the gate to the coach house. They are up above the coaches on a balcony] I think Alice Mary became a seamstress there while the royal navy prepared for war. They had three children...Gwladys,[gladys], Ernest and Arthur John Herbert [born 1904]  in Tottenham [grandma was very ill and brought to london for the birth] He was then taken home to Wales some weeks later. Edward drowned at sea around 1912/14onward as my father was only living at the palace for a few years, as Grandma had to leave service once she was a widow She moved into London, possibly the East end and set up a wine and lemonade shop which she knew all about and the children knew how to put the bubbles into the lemonade and sparkly wine from working in their Granfathers shop from a very young age! She later married George Hickling when her three children were teenagers and young adults, and had two more sons one also named John but known as Jack, He served throughout the 2nd world war from about 18 yrs old. He moved to St Austel after marriage, and had two boys. He set up an electrical shop in St Austel  and lived in a village near by. The other son of this marriage was jeffery who emigrated to New Zealand.. My aunt and uncle from the first marriage did not have children, and I am the only child of Arthur John Herbert. Therefore the only Granchild of Alice Mary's first  marriage. Can anyone make me any connection to this area of the adcock family Most of the contacts have been the wrong dates for My Father. The birth date is exact as is place of birth. 31 Glenwood Rd Tottenham, on October 21st. 1904Sorry, but if this does not fit then it will not apply to your own tree, nor to mine.Arther John Herbert was yougest of the three children from the first marriage. We now have the birthdates of the Hickling boys. John [jack] E 1922 and Jeffery E 1923. marcia jeffry   nee davis.

Well, you must all be heartily sick of me!!!! Not my fault this time!
I see the name stuck Ricochet. Thanks for all your work and all of Mels too. You have certainly found the right people so my Dad must have been told an awful lot of lies about his background!
Anyway it is all coming together nicely thanks to all the help.
Reason I have been absent so long: my mainline phone went down and it took nearly four weeks for them to find the fault....at the bottom of my garden, would you believe, on the incoming cable where it attaches to the pole! So, no phone, no internet.... It took another week for them to get that back on....
It was a very peaceful 5 weeks with time for a lot of reading, but a lot of frustration at not being able to get back online..
It will take another week to sort out all the 'waiting'stuff.
BIG THANK YOU'S ALL ROUND.
Big question....where did Wales come in? All my beliefs in my spoken ancestry seem to be falling apart very fast!
