Well - witness John Fisher - surely - ! John, husband of Charlotte Newbould, brother of Susannah.

(Whether or not any of the bumph about John & Amelia is true -- he's the only other Dinnington Fisher in the censuses apart from the James & Elizabeth batch, and he and Susannah surely must be related.)

I've tried to track down other children from that submitted list, to no avail. I suspect a lot of deaths in infancy. John might have been the only sib left by the time Susannah married. And I can't identify him in 1841, but you give it a try!

Dea

Just some extra info for you

Susannah dies in 1857, again I have this cert, she dies in childbirth, it appears that sadly the child she was carrying dies with her as there is no child aged about 4 in the 1861 with William. She dies at Hill Top, Dronfield.

Samuel, their son, marries Catherine Wilkinson in 1873 if my memory serves me correctly and it is their daughter Hannah where my connection with the Naylor's starts. Again I have all the certs for Catherine and her daughter Hannah, they all match up.

William appears to marry Theresa Murray in 1860 in Sheffield, sadly she too appears to die in 1865, he doesn't have much luck with his wives!

Hope this helps

Thanks so much for staying with me.

Yes I have no doubt that you are right, John could well have been the only sibling she had left, and I still think that his marriage is a good starting point, if only to find out of their father's match up, you can bet your life it will be squiggle again!

John certainly seem to get about it, travelling to Lancashire and then ending up on Saddleworth Moor, but at least he and Charlotte are consistent with their info.

Just another snippet, Susanna's first child is called Sarah, I seem to remember a Sarah in the info you gave me. Could be barking up the wrong tree, but worth a shot!

No I had no luck with a John Fisher in the 1841, that's why I posted to see if anyone else had any ideas. Those Aves are looking more and more likely to me. Today we would find it quite shocking to marry so quickly after the death of a spouse, but in those days, both parties needed someone to support them, I suppose Love didn't really come into it.

It just seems to fit doesn't it- can't find John or Susanna under the name of Fisher, but can find an Aves in the same area, John goes onto to marry Charlotte, same area again.

We definately need that Newbould cert - I had a couple of ideas that didn't match but the extra info has further convinced me.

Let us know the details as soon as you receive it! - It looks even more likely now that Evie is correct.

I will keep looking in the meanwhile.

Dea and Evie Beave

I agree, that cert is a must, hopefully it will shed some more light on Bill the supposed Blacksmith.

Thanks again to both of you , you have been brilliant! I don't know how you both do it sometimes.

I think the chap that has some Fisher's in his tree is worth a quick email too, if he says he has just copied it from the IGI, well I at least know not to trust his info.

Will definately call back in with the cert infoo when I get it.

Thanks again, don't know what I would do without you!

Well, without all of us, I'd have to do work.

Which I must do now, actually, having been dumped with an urgency for tomorrow noon and not having started the thing I've had all along for the same time ... but this is so much more fun ...

EvieBeavie

I quite agree, chasing ancestors is so much more fun than work of any sort.

My hubby can't understand it, hence why he is watching the footy (now i think that is a waste of time!), he calls it "Chasing Dead People" and just can't understand my fasination with the family tree- heathen!!

Thanks again for you help, you really have been wonderful

I DON'T believe it !!!!!!!!

I have just spent a couple of hours on this and found LOADS of interesting info - cut + pasted it into note book to sort and send to you and what happens - Bl******yy Vista decides to update itself - turns my computer off without a 'by your leave' and the LOT has disappeared.

I can remember a lot of it so I will have to find it all over again!!!

It will take a while - will be back later !

Grrrrrrrrrrrr

Dea x

P.S. - Anyone happen to know how I can get it back??

Dea x

EvieBeavie

EvieBeavie Report 11 Mar 2009 14:29

You can't.

Do whatever you have to do to set the *(&#)%^ thing to NO AUTOMATIC UPDATES. Somehow, mine (XP) still manages to set itself to automatic updates sometimes. I usually get the countdown - I am going to turn myself off in 10, 9, 8, ... and I get the chance to say NO. But I have to say it every three minutes until I voluntarily shut it down. If I go pee, and miss the countdown, I'm outa luck. You remember the first season of Lost?

Lost, that is what it is. But you gotta get rid of the auto thing -- no auto download (it grinds you to a halt while it's doing it), no automatic install.

And the other lesson: save, save, save. Never mind notebook. Open a Word document, save it every couple of minutes. Document X-a, Document X-b, and so on. You can delete them all when you're done.

Take it from somebody who has had too many computers eat too many hours of work.

So. We're waaaaiting.

EvieBeavie Report 11 Mar 2009 14:32

Spiral ... "Chasing Dead People" vs. chasing a dead pig, or whatever they make those round objects out of now ... chasing dead spheroid refined petrochemicals ..

I know which one I'll take.

One thing I can remember - I was following the Aves name which Evie was interested in from 1841.

Marriages Jun 1843

***AVES Lydia Sheffield 22 397
***Crownshaw Matthew Sheffield 22 397
.....................

Traced them to 1851 - This shows that the AVES name is in fact probably correct and that the family, or at
least Lydia came from Essex

Thank you Evie,

I usually do save quite often but I was 'on a roll' with one page open for the Aves and another for the Hudsons+ Fishers' - I got so 'involved' I didn't think, then B****** Vista just closed my screen and logged everything off - I was SSSooo cross!!!!!!!

Anyway when I come back I will look at that 'automatic update' setting again (XP was so wonderful !!) - One of the annoying things about Vista is that you can set something to do what YOU want but it will actually change the settings back and not tell you !! GGrrrrr!

Dea Report 11 Mar 2009 14:53

Just one more installment before I go - got to give Evie something to 'chew on' !!

I also found the Hudson link - witness on the cert - I am just going to 'mumble' this all out for now,
I will have to find you the references again later and check I have remembered correctly....

I found a William Hudson (I believe it was 1841 census) - aged 72 and living with a Joseph Fisher aged 35
in Fisher Lane, Attercliffe. (Joseph was a butcher). - I believe the witness at the wedding was probably
this William,s son, rather that him ?

Next door to them, also on Fisher Lane was John Fisher - a farmer, aged 73.

There was a marriage I found of a John Fisher to Ruth Hudson and they had at least 2 children -
1 was Joseph and the other was George Hudson Fisher.

I believe John Fisher (the farmer above) had 4 sons - there was a John who was probably the one who
married Ruth, and he also had a William (who could possibly be yours)?

Unfortunately there are 2 or 3 lots of Fishers in the same vicinity - all obviously related - I had, just about
got them seperated but I need to go back now and get all the info again and re-sort it!!

I am off for a 'cuppa' now (need to 'unstress' myself before my Doctors' appointment - tee hee!) -
I REALLY DO HATE this stupid Vista System!!!!! (Rant over!!...)

Will get you the rest of the info again asap.

Best regards,

Dea x

You couldn't keep me busy with something a whole lot more interesting than dead people right now. No sleep, again ...

I say throw 'em up in the air and see where they land.

But I think you do have the makings of the flesh on the bones I was mumbling over, there.

Take heed from that and have a good night's sleep (10 hours at least by my standards!!) - We NEED you back on this case tomorrow!

Hee. I read that as

Evie -- No! Sleep is not good!

... some desperate attempt to dissuade me from wandering off. ;)

Food is better than sleep at the moment. Food, then sleep. I can't remember the name of what I'm going to eat just now, but I shall eat it with Belgian bread and much butter. Polish sausage that comes in a coil ... google google ... oh yes, kielbasa. I'll forget it again now, but I'll remember it in the morning. Low-fat low-sodium yummy. Food! Oh, and a shower. Probably more needed than sleep ...

Have fun!

'No sleep' is NOT Good !!

10 hours sleep is what is needed!

I will have the same!

Will be back tomorrow - see you then.
