It's no wonder we get side tracked!

I spent hours once looking for a disappearing wife of a relative of mine, and he was only a 2nd cousin once removed. Found her in the end though, they both committed bigamy.

Yes, I have just printed it off, very odd no place of birth, on 1841 census it just say Robert wasn't born in Staffs, however they are in the same place as they were in 1841. Alfred is the right age to be Robert's son, but why would it say step son to George Randle? Going to have to find a marriage for George to see who Ellen is.

There is no place of birth for any of them and Alfred is down as step son in realtionship to head of the household George Randall

O Christine how did I miss that !!!! It does look promising, before I take a look does it say where he was born?

Could this be her father in 1851?

Age out a bit but there is also Alfred with him of similar age.

Jennifer I went to find it yesterday, even now it's a tiny little hamlet in the middle of nowhere, there are two hamlets Wetwood & Fair oak right next to one anther in the parish of Eccleshall, it's a lovely area.

I am now up to 1,000 pages on 1851, she must have been very badly transcibed, but I can't find any of the others ether, even on her second marriage cert it doesn't say her father is deceased, SO WHERE ARE THEY grrrrrrrrrr

She wasn't with James as he is with his mother in Marsh St.

No I can't find her either. i just had a look on Google Maps to see where Fair Oak is in Staffs. The only one to come up is below Newcastle under Lyme on the road to Loggerheads (love that name)

They obviously did do that with the ages if she was baptised in 1833, still haven't found her though in 1851.

Christine, I think you are right usually, but on that 1841 census all the ages except for the 2 yrs old end in a 0 as if they had been rounded up or down by the enumerator

Elizabeth was one of my 2 x grt grandmas.

She was actually Christened on 23 June 1833, so I think her age must have been rounded off to the nearest 5 on 1841

I thought it was only ages over 15 that were rounded down but you never know.

Christine the age could have been rounded down in 1841 so she could have been about 7 and so 17 when married, but still young.
What is your relationship to her Gill?

Thanks for that it is possible but if its her she is a long way from Bagnall where she got married a couple of months later.
