Hmm, she's the only person in that household? It's possible, even though they didn't marry until 1913; she could have been calling herself married. George and the daughters are somewhere else ... is either George or Sarah recorded as a visitor on census night? Can you tell whether there was anyone else in the household she was in? |

yeh, 1891 seems to be a tricky one. i now think the sarah eaton in 1911 is incorrect too. |

Annie Annie Annie. Our "Jonas" Eaton was the father of someone who married in 1873 -- Celia Eaton who married Thomas Barritt. Hm, are you thinking they may have had a son Jonas Barrett before marrying? There doesn't seem to be any match there ... |

I can't believe the guessing worked! Thank you so much. I received the birth certificate of the Sarah Emily Barritt born Burnley in 1873 today. The parents listed are Michael Barritt, a plasterer, and Cecelia Barritt formerly Eaton. Sarah was born 23rd April 1873. |

But the lesson here is: when you're down to your last gasp for help, come bang on Dee's and my heads. We make quite a team, no? ;) |

Looks very likely to be her, seeing as they have a son the same age so as you say, she can't be a daughter to the family. |

One possibility I've been looking for is that by 1891 she was simply shacked up with somebody and appears under his surname. She would have been 18, it would have been possible ... |
