The age wasn't mentioned on the probate and I did not take any notes from the will. There is a William death in Darwen on lancs bmd in 1851 which gives a death age of 66 and all the others match freebmd I would guess that was the one so he does not match a birth in 1816. I only looked for wills up to 1858 as those are indexed in a printed book and therefore easy to find, after that it is a case of trawling the fiches unless you know the year of death. |

I think you'll find that people either come to the end of how they can help or move on to help others get started. You've got quite a lot to work on there Neil. Don't burn the midnight oil. See what happens later. I can't help any more because I have limited access to things. Good luck. |

I kept meaning to say that! Parish registers are the place to look, if you are nearby or have a helpful Lancashire Ann to do it. ;) |

Neil - if you want to wait a couple of days before getting the credit card out I may be going to the Lancs CRO on Friday and I could have a look to see if I can find the parish regs with father's names. Just need to sort out the details from all these pages - as others have said it's moved on at a fair pace - i've only been out a few hours. |
