Elaine,

Thank you very much for taking the time to let me know.

I'll have a look at the blog.

Kind regards

How strange. I had thought that the 1911 would be the most readable and accurate census so far, as more people were literate and civilised lol!

I still can't find anyone in Herefordshire at all, I have even tried Jones, Evans and Smith!

Although Herefordshire was included in the list of counties which were supposed to have been released, the 1911 census blog states that Herefordshire records were not in fact included.

I see we are still in the days of strange and wonderful transcriptions. Warks down as Works! Hard to say with todays bad spelling if they are British nationals or not.
Until I look at the originals I won't know whether it should be Coseley, Worcestershire or Moseley as it says. It should be Coseley.
It's all good fun!!

Hi Amanda - I tried the 'beta' link and couldn't get on via that. I then just got onto the 1991 census run by Find my Past and tried clicking on search, and as I said before, absolutely nothing. I imagine the 'trial' oeriod has now finished so will just have to be patient and await its proper release. Thanks.

Amanda,

Hi Margaret,

Are you using the beta link posted above?

It's the trial version prior to the release, I still can't find anyone in Herefordshire at all, I have even tried Jones, Evans and Smith!

Kind regards
Amanda

I'm really puzzled here. I have gone onto the site, registered - several days ago - and still cannot get past the first page. I have 'clicked' on the icon saying search - nothing - clicked on icon for viewing samples - nothing. Everyone seems to be finding relatives but I just cannot progress. What am I doing wrong please?

I have just looked on the 1911 and found a couple of mine, brilliant news and information, the only thing i have against it is the cost.It is quite a bit of money to see the original census.

This is going to help heaps though.....Tim

I have just spent LOADSA money on getting the originals (plz dont tell hubby! he'll find out soon enough!) lol

Is that really the signitures of our rellies?
The writing seems very much the same!

I took an address of my Great Grandfather and wrote it down in my own handwriting....it's exactly the same!
Do you think it's in the Genes? lol

Gerri x

PS..
When looking for one rellie i put in 'Staffs'......nothing came up...I then changed it to 'Willenhall'....and there it was!

Willenhall is and was in staffs!

I have managed to find most of our family, but there are alot of transcription errors. i.e women listed as males, incorrect spellings etc. I cannot wait until you can purchase a years subscription it is so expensive at the moment., so you need to be fairly sure it is your family you are viewing

Thank you Romany,

I'll just have to be patient then, there are a few Weavers there and I would just like to see what happened to them.

Kind regards
Amanda

Merry xmas

I managed to find a few, by just searching on surname and county of birth........if its a common name you can then reduce the amount by adding birth year and +/-...... i was actually quite impressed with the speed of it all {Ancestry take note}.......

BTW Romany star... i`m not a paid up member of findmypast, but still managed to purchase the credits and view what I wanted.
