That's great thanks. Looks like John Bainbridge must have gone to live with his Mothers family then when he was 16. Managed to find that in the census details! Can't find anything else - don't know how you all can! I wondered if it was because his parents had possibly died but it certainly shows that Isaac his father was still alive. I think someone mentioned it could be to do with the war. I do know that he served in the First WW but have yet to fing out where & what as etc. I have the details of his service in the WWII as that is how he died. From what I have in Kelly's etc he was a farmer as well as his father. |

Ah right, lovely, that answers why she possibly bought it then. I have done a bit of research on his army career & he was in both world wars so that could be why. |

The other names are nothing to do with Bainbridge and Isaac- they just appear on the same page. It tells you that Bainbridge married a woman named Isaac and that Ethel K Isaac married a man named Bainbridge, so that's all you need to know - ignore the rest! |

Hi Michelle That was Isaac Stanley Bainbridge and Marion King that married in Looth 1881 (Johns Father and Mother). |

I now know for definite that there were no children for John & Ethel. I had a very interesting convs last night with a local that I tracked down who knows quite a bit about the history of the village. |
