Hi Julia,

I'd be most grateful if you could find the details of my grandparents' return to the UK from the USA. They sailed to Boston in October 1923 and I think they returned to live in Glasgow about two years later, so probably 1925 or 1926. I don't know the ports of departure/arrival for the return journey.

Their details are:
James Hughes, born 21st August 1894, motor engineer.
Janet Henderson Hughes (maiden name Murdoch) born 9th August 1899.

Many thanks for your time.
Regards,
Andrew

Very many thanks for taking the trouble to research this so quickly. It is certainly the right record, as my grandmother's parents lived at 11 Ascog Street about this time.

Thanks again,

Andrew

Hello Julia

Martha Plested emigrated to Australia in 1884 and became a Baptist missionary to East Bengal, India, now Bangla Desh in 1885. She served for 38 years in India and I know she returned to England two or three times in that period. Please can you find her on any lists from 1862 till about 1920?

Thanks a lot,

David

Hello Julia

Please would you have a look for Patrick McIntyre 1846, thank you !!!!.

I believe he came from Ireland to the UK before 1870 as he married Margaret Thomson in Eaglesham, Renfrewshire that year. His parents are listed as Philip McIntyre and Mary McParlan on his marriage certificate.

I can find no trace of Patrick before he married.

Thanks again,
Liz

Hi Julia,
I am trying to trace the movements of a cousin who left Australia for England some time after world war 2. Not clear whether she travelled under the name of Gladys Carter or Keller. It would be great if you could find her.
Thanks Heather

Can you see a HENRY VICTOR HOWARD HARDING, born 1869 in the Manchester area? He was known by his middle name of Victor for most of his life, so that may be a possible too.

His last known profession in the 1901 census is Electrician.

I'm beginning to think that he may have emigrated. If he did, I'm hopeful that your records may show him returning to the UK for a visit perhaps?

Many thanks in advance.

I see your kind offer, please could you see if you can find Charles Shearston/e (variations in spelling) Born 1837 East Coke Somerset he disappeared after his Marriages 15 May 1865 to Elizabeth Bell, & turns up in the 1901 census with a niece in Portsmouth, as a widower age 62 living on own means, the 1911 census he has re married & his trade was retired Miner I would have thought his port arrival would be Southampton.
Thank you .
