Somebody has the tree on Ancestry. Tree owner is Lynne Page, there's a lot of info, well documented. They have Frederick J. Deville Pratt born 31 Jan. 1833, Portsea to George William Pratt and Ann Penny. |

Very curious that Frederick J.D. didn't know where he was born, he was evidently an educated man! Can't find him before he marries Eleanor. What's he hiding? |

Oh yes, the Frederick on the 1871 census is Baron John's father but that was before Baron John was born. There was an older brother Baron George born 1870, he's on the census but must have died then your Baron John was born 1873. |

Now looking for father and siblings of Baron John Pratt, because I've got a feeling that the Frederick Pratt in the 1871 census must be related to Baron John - he had the same occupation and one of his daughters, Florence, has the family name of Delville. |
