DAVID You mention a birth date of 1747 for Elizabeth Gilkes in Adderbury, but the child baptised 18/9/1747 Adderbury was buried the same day. She was the daughter of Stephen Gilkes andhis wife Mary West. Richard Warkman and Elizabeth had the following children baptised in Adderbury John 7/1/1781 William 4/5/1783 buried 17/5/1783 Richard 8/8/1784 buried 4/2/1787 Ann 3/9/1786 buried 13/2/1787 Thomas 30/8/1789 buried 3/2/1830 aged 40 yrs Adderbury William 2/9/1792 buried 26/5/1793

DAVID THOMAS WARKMAN bapt 30/8/1789 Adderbury ALIAS THOMAS WARPMAN and Hannah Gilkes who had been baptised in Bloxham 2/10/1785 ( daughter of Richard Gilkes and Mary Sides who had married Bloxham 14/10/1782 by Banns witnesses William Gibbs Thomas Walker both of this parish,) Thomas and Hannah married 28/10/1811 Adderbury by Banns witnesses Thomas Wyatt, William Butler. DAVID The death age of Mary Sides (Gilkes) gives an approximate birth date of 1757, and if you look on Genes you will find one other person with a Mary Sides born 1757, perhaps a word with him would help you. I cannot help feeling that I have had dealings with Mary Side and Thomas Walkman before somewhere on this thread, perhaps you could enter Side or Gilkes on the keyword box on this thread and see if it throws something up. The Gilkes were inclines to marry cousins I have similar on my own tree but later on.Sorry about spreading the reply over so many entries, it seems my answers have to be very short now.

Margaret Many thanks for the look up, I Thought I might have been asking to much. If you ever need any look up,s in the cemetery Grave books in Bacup, Rawtenstall or Haslingden, Lancashire area, I maybe able to help. A lot of people came into the area in the mid 1800's because of the cotton and shoe industries. Quite a few from Oxfordshire. Once again many thanks.
Dave.

Hello Margaret, I took your advice and contacted the other person on Genes and this is his response.
"I have the record of that burial of Elizabeth Gilkes in 1747 but had assumed that she was an adult rather than a new born. I think we need to check with Margaret whether the burial register actually does give the names of Parents".
So can you help us on this one please.
Also I keyed in the names of Sides & Gilkes but found nothing out about them.
Regards Dave

Hi Margaret Rose
Thank you for your kind offer of lookups in Oxfordshire.
If you get a moment, would you mind looking up a marriage for me for James Pratt Wells to Caroline, between 1861 & 1871. There are three on Free BMD but do no give his middle name to confirm it is him. Also in 1881 census there is a nephew staying with the childless couple, who could be Caroline's nephew as they came from Oxfordshire, and James came from Suffolk.
The nephew's name is Reginald Giles, so maybe Caroline is a Giles.
Thanks for your time, hope you can help.
1861 James was living in George Street. (After that they moved to Leicester).
Thank you
Kind regards Dee

Hi Margaret,
Thank you for your kind offer - I'm hoping you will be able to solve a mystery regarding the surname spelling and birth year of my Harry Thomas Maisey by checking for a baptism record.
1891 census says he was born abt. 1884 in Eynsham - his family lived in Long Han(d)borough for generations.
The only likely birth record I can find for Harry MAZEY is Q Jun 1882, registered in Banbury - which seems a little far out location-wise, but I guess it's possible. I have also searched for variations including Henry and Thomas as a first name.
Harry's parents are James MAZEY / MASEY / MAISEY and Mary Ann (nee Jarrott or Breakspear). On the 1881 Census James' surname is spelt MAZEY so I tend to believe the Banbury birth record.
I wonder whether you could find a baptism record for Harry, please? I believe it would have been in the Eynsham area, possibly North Leigh or Handborough or Eynsham itself.
Harry had siblings ALfred, Lizzie, Frederick, Emily, Walthan (nearest in age to Harry, also with poss birth date 1882), Albert, John, Cecil and Gertrude.
I'm only interested in Harry at this stage, I hope this is not too complicted a request.
Thank you and best wishes, Liz

LIZREES The transcript for Handborough only goes up to 1860, there are no baptisms in Eynsham for Maisey etc. There is a baptism 17/8/1879 for Emily Jane Maisey in North Leigh daughter of James and Mary, he a Gamekeeper of Blind Well, Eynsham perhaps this gives you half an answer.

Hi Margaret,
Re. Maisey - yes, thank you, what you have found confirms the surname spelling.
That's wonderful, a great help.
Best wishes
