Hello, I posted the above back in 2008. Below is the 1891 census. Bowmont is shown as Beaumont, and as above, it doesn't show Florence relationship to Hannah (I feel the age gap is too big to be mother and daughter). When Norah McSloy (above) marries and travels to America, she states her mother's maiden name is Florence Bowman.

Can anyone find Hannah and Florence on the 1881 census please. On the 1911 census Florence has her age as 32 so there is a discrepancy in her dob, which I cannot find on FreeBMD or the government website.

Hannah died 1904 as Hannah Bowmont.

It's only the 1881 census I am looking for.

Where was Hannah in 1871?

Was she actually born in 1828? The death record shows her birth as c1837
In one census she says she was born in York - in another her birthplace is Darlington. Which - if either - is correct?

Hello, I don't know anything about Hannah, I have a feeling she probably wasn't married. One census says born Yorkshire and another Darlington which is in County Durham and her age varies. I am waiting for her death certificate to see who the informant was but am not very hopeful. On Florence marriage certificate it says she is 21, so again born between 1874/1879. On 1939 register she is born April 1879. Again one census says born Durham, another Kent.

DidFlorence name father on the marriage cert

She still says born Maidstone on the 1911 census

And on the 1939 register she gives her birth as 1879

Hello, Florence has her father as John Bowden deceased, merchant's clerk. The witnesses were Annie Crow and William Faint, which are no relation.

John Bowden was charged with assaulting his mother in law, Hannah Bowmont. on the 2nd Inst., it being alleged by the old lady that he fractured three of her ribs, and inflicted such injury as caused her to be laid up for 3 weeks. Mr H Simpson, who was engaged by the complainant, said that the whole affair arose out of a family quarrel and the consequent separation of the defendant and his wife, the later of whom lived with her mother, and in her husband's absence went to his house and took away a lamp, which he went to recover, when the alleged assault was committed. he suggested that it be adjourned for a week in the hope that a settlement might be arrived at, and their Worships accordingly adjourned it.
