Find Ancestors

Can anybody help Im trying to find my mothers family. Her name on my birth cert was Cheryle Plattern living in Hackney London when I was born 18/08/1956 She was born 26th Sept 1931-1933ish. She died in skegness 24th March 1971 and was buried under the name Cheryle Jones (although she never married my father) I also recall she used the name Silk/Silke. I think i have a half brother called Michael Silk/Silke as I once overheard a conversation between my parents. I can't seem to find any trace of her, I always believed that she was from Austrailia but she was so secretive I'm really not sure of anything any more, the more I look the less I find. Any help would be much appreciated. Paula

Why do you believe she was from Australia? Did she have any siblings?

Do you her birth name?

Hi Paula I have search birth indexes for 1930-1933,with no luck with all the different names you mentioned.
I have also checked Western Austraila for births as I live here again with no luck.
Is your fathers name Jones

Hi Paula I too am sorry but I cannot find her under any of the names you mentioned,I have checked all over Oz and I don't think she was born here.
Can you get information from your father or grandparents maybe ,I would love to find her for you if you can get some more info .Susan

Yes my father is shown as Trevor Fredrick Jones althought his birth cert shows him as fredrick trevor.

I always thought it was Plattern but your guess is as good as mine im really confused now thanks any way. paula

sorry i didnt read your posting properly I was always told she came from Oz somewhere near Sidney. As far as I know she was an only child but to be fair the more postings I get back the less I know. thanks for all your help.

Thanks I was told 1933 but if the records show 1926 it's a step nearer thanks for all your help.

hi thanks for your help it appears i even had the wrong date of birth. As you can see from the other replies we now have her d.o.b. as 26/09/1926. she always said she was from Oz. As far as I know she didn't have siblings, (but what do I know) my father is deceased never met any grandparents on either side had one aunt on my fathers side who never bothered with my mother. It looks like we have hit a blank but thanks a lot for all your hard work. Paula

Possible marriage for Michael SILK to a SMITH, JFM 1974 Croyden.

Found 2 others between 1969 and 1977, one in W. Brom and another in Bath.
