Only way to tell would be by the 1901 census. Both marriages should be on there..and that way could tell who married who.

Now....hopefully this is correct.
So..now have to start looking for Fredrick Fleet.
But as I said..Marjorie May..may or may not have had an affair with a US GI..and possibly had a child by him..when she was young.
Plus got Aunt to died in air raid to find..and and Uncle whos real name I dont know....lol.
As you might be able to tell..I know very little about my family...long story.....
Why I started to look up my family was to find if there is any scottish blood in the family. As I moved to Scotland with my partner Linda 2 years ago. She is Scottish..well...we are thinking she may have Irish ancestors...So have been looking for her family also.. Again..brick walls etc..my luck.
Has been a real eye opener since I started looking up my family..so much I didn't know....very interesting and somewhat strange at times.
Ho Hum!...

I was told the stories of the Aunt who was kiled in the air raid many years ago..when I was young. Never knew if it was true or not.. Plus the story of the Aunt who imigrated to Oz. Wasn't told her name..or when she went..all I knew was she went sometime around or before I was born.
I didn't know my grandparents names...on either side of family..mums or dads. I only recall meeting my mums once when I was very young..about 5-6 years old I guess. Didnt recall their names or where they lived.
So...its been abit of a struggle finding out anything....when you have nothing much to go on.
But so far ..my searchings..and guess work has payed off. I now know both sets of grandparents..and also have thier birth certs..which helped alot. But again..still tricky.
I've had alot of folks on here moaning at me..saying you can't get by with just guess work..you need paper work to prove things..yes i understand that...BUT..when you have so little to go on in the 1st place..you have to start with what you have and guest work to get the the point where you can get the paper work to prove it...
It you understand that...lol. Some have been most abrupt about helping..because they moan that what I tell them is guest work..not facts....but what can I do..It thats all I got to go on?.
Very dishearting..and annoying...as other folks who get help..don't get the Spanish Inquisition. :(
But my guess work has payed off..and I have paper work now to prove it!...So it does work. Its not just a stab in the dark..its calculated guess work..mixed with common sence.
I thing they forget some of us don't have the same kind of family lifes where we have lots of into to had already.

Thanks you Susan!......your GREAT!..what a STAR!
:).... Great info....yes all looks very good......all we really need to do is confirm this is the right Jack Wicks...which Im sure it is......the areas concerned all match well with my mum being born in Reading Berkshire...and her mother being born their also.
Her mother was Marjorie Phyllis Edna May. Born to Albert May and Marjorie Matilda May May (nee Gunter).
Marjorie Phyllis Edna May married Jack Wicks..then married Fredrick James Leeson Fleet.
Jack & Marjorie had 4 kids and Marjorie & Fredrick had 2 kids. These I know about already....
The main mystery now..is the child Majorie had during the war with the US GI...Thats the story I have been told.
All I have there is the name Colin..but I don't know if thats the name of the GI or the child. But...the child was taken back to the US with the GI.
I have no idea if this story is true..so with so little to go on...I don't know where to start!.
It is very intriging!
Cheers Susan...{{{{{{{{{{{{BIG HUG}}}}}}}}}}}}} xx

Did I mention I have relations in Oz.?
I'm sure I did...
Imigrated to Australia.
Tilbury on R.M.S Orontes, 25/10/1960
Name: Bessie CARR Date of departure: 25 October 1960 Port of departure: London Passenger destination port: Melbourne, Australia Passenger destination: Melbourne, Australia
Caroline CARR Passenger list page 4 of 36 Christina CARR Passenger list page 4 of 36 Leslie CARR Passenger list page 4 of 36 Melvyn CARR Passenger list page 4 of 36 Richard CARR Passenger list page 4 of 36 Stanley CARR Passenger list page 4 of 36
Her maiden name was Wilson....but she married a Leslie Carr...had 5 kids and imigrated to Oz.
I think they were apart of the £10 pom scheme.
Otherwise it would have been very expensive to of taken themselfs and 5 kids to Oz!.
Think they went to Melbourne..though I always believed they lived in Canberra...

We are in the thinking that Emma Fuller and John Wicks are his parents..and that George Wicks and Alice Hamblin are Johns brother and his wife.
Thinking they both got married at the same time in the same place etc..to safe money!. A double marriage!.. I'm thinking that one brother set up his brother with his girlfriends friend...or the other way round..lol.
They all got married at the same time to save money!..Good thinking....share the expense of the reception etc. Or maybe they were just cheap skates...lol...

Think I'm getting lost here.
Ok..have..:
Marriages Mar 1898 Wicks John Reading 2c 517 Marriages Mar 1898 FULLER Emma Reading 2c 517
Marriages Mar 1898 Wicks George Reading 2c 517 Marriages Mar 1898 Hamblin Alice Reading 2c 517
Births Sep 1917 Wicks Jack Fuller Reading 2c 502
Need to fnd John & Emma in the 1901 census.
If Jack was born 1917..wouldn't his parents be born..around 1890? Rather than being married in 1898!
