Find Ancestors

Hi all.

Have found out (at last) that my gm of mothers side name was "May" rather than "Mae"
"May" name as on marriage to "Wicks" in 1945. And "May" as on birth record.
On birth record it says mmn was "Gunter". And as her name was "May"..then her fathers surname should be "May"
She was born in 4Q 1923. So I assume her parents ( as I dont know if she had siblings or not) were married sometime before 1923. Yet i have not been able to find any refernecs of a "May" marrying a "Gunter"..or visa a versa, around that time.
The only close reference I could find was a "Honor Gunter" 1924 Jul-Aug-Sep marring a "Day" in Nottingham Nottinghamshire.

Thats as close as I could find.
Only thing I can think of is that they didnt get married unless I can find otherwise.

Anyone willing to take alook for me with fresh eyes would me most appreciated.

Sorry no 1st name for either parent....i have tried Freebmd and have looked at ancestry..with my limited credits..but no luck.
I might just be not seeing it...but as i say..only close match is a Gunter and Day....no May's... :(
